Dorman 55329 Capless Fuel Neck Cover Compatible with Select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury Models

I didn’t know this cap existed until I needed to resolve the common vapor leaks at this location. This cap will virtually eliminate the fine dust that creates the leaking from the flapper door.NOTE: This CAP/COVER does NOT SEAL the filler tube. It is a cover, and is not made to seal the flapper door. But it will keep out foreign matter!So, if your flapper is beyond help, this will not help eliminate the check Eng lite! If your not sure if your flapper door is actually bad, push in the fuel funnel that comes std with these fords, and spray Wd-40 or other known good lubricant that has the straw attached to the can, bend the tip of straw to curve up a little (pay attention here) place that straw tip on TOP of the outer side of funnel, next to the top entrance of flapper door, pushing it in between the funnel and filler entrance about a 1/2”, and begin to spray a 3sec blast of lubricant. Pull out the lubricant straw and grab the funnel pulling it completely out, and pushing it back in very rapidly about 10-15 times trying to distribute the lubricant by the flapper seating. Repeat this two more times. This tiny amount of lubricant will not affect your fuel in any harmful way, so not to worry! Turn off chk lite if related to fuel vapor code, drive the veh for a few restarts to see if it is gone?Now, keep that cap on all the time and enjoy your simple fix to a not so great device!

Not sure if I needed this, but what the heck.Not expensive. Might actually help keep your fill port clean.

Did not order a replacement for this item. Why would I reorder a cap that is to big again. I removed the replace on the refund. Can’t use what doesn’t fit!!!

Capless gas system had a bad seal on fuel door. No matter how many times I cleaned it, the CEL would come back on with a Code P0456 (small leak). Minor code but if you are like me, an annoyance! After several attempts to clean the fuel door, it would always have the CEL light come back on after a few days. Found the gas door had a bad seal. Ordered this very simple cap which covers the flap keeping dust out. CEL turned off and hasn't been back on. It's not going to work instantly but clean the fuel flap before initial install of this cap and you should be good to go.

Look exactly like pictures, but it didn't fit my tank.
