Nice choice of colour output
Smaller diameter than the 'same' size old light, so only just covers the hole

Good value Bright light Needs 17.1cm hole in ceiling
Bright Source Round LED Panel Downlight, 15w Slimline Recessed Ceiling Spotlight, 1200lm Lumen OutputI have not tried fitting this. downlight. I have, however, tried it out and examined in with the light working normally. This downlight is designed to be fitted recessed in a ceiling (like ceiling downlighter spotlights etc.). Access will be needed above the ceiling void (such as under a bedroom floor, or from a loft floor). The light is 19cm diameter, and the box states that a 17.1cm hole needs to be cut for fixing.Access to the existing lighting cables will be needed. The light is fitted with a LED driver. The driver has a short cable to connect to the mains supply. This changes the mains voltage to an output of 30 - 70V DC (specs printed on the driver). There is a short output cable from the LED driver with a socket on the end. This socket connects with the colour switch, then to the light, thus allowing the light to be easily disconnected from the LED driver and removed if necessary. The light can display three colour temperatures. The only way to change the temperature is via the switch. As the switch will be inaccessible in the ceiling void after the light is fitted, the colour should be selected before fitting the light. Should you later decide you want to change the colour, then this can be done relatively easily by removing the light and operating the switch. As long as the cable has sufficient slack, you should be able to remove the light just enough to gain access to the switch without unplugging the light. The light is bright and runs reasonably cool. It appears to be all plasticThere is no provision to mount the light other than in a hole (where it is held in position by two spring catches in the normal way). Therefore, this should be seen as a ceiling fitting only. With a bit of ingenuity, there may be other ways of using the light, but care must be taken not to damage it. Also, although the mains voltage to the light is reduced, great care should be taken to avoid electric shock etc. There is no proper support for the cable in / out of the switch. Serrated teeth on the entry hole are made to hold the cable in place, the cable isn't thick enough for this to work, and so the cable is not held tight in place.

If you don't like the colour temperature it's OK, I have others
This is quite a large LED unit, about a foot in diameter (I got the 24 watt one), although there are smaller lower-powered versions. Something really good about this is that you don't need to worry about where the ceiling joists are when fitting it. It's thinner than a sheet of plasterboard, so if there's a joist in the way it doesn't matter, the panel is so thin that it the joist won't be in the way. It's a one-way trip if you fit one though, as you're going to have a gaping hole to patch up if you change your mind, or if the LED strip fails.Internally the panel uses a strip of LEDs around the perimeter; 120 warm white and 120 daylight white, with the LEDs alternating in colour as you go round. Due to the way they're wired (each set of 10 LEDs in parallel, all 12 sets then connected in series) I expect this will be quite a robust panel really, as if one LED fails it'll only marginally increase power through the rest in its group. If an entire group fails open-circuit it'll take one LED colour out but there's still the other one to play with, so even if it started failing it would take a lot for this panel to be rendered completely useless, unlike some designs where failure of a single LED would take out the whole unit.Colour choice is made with a little inline slide switch that's inline with the cable that's wired to the LED panel itself and would sit up in the ceiling void out of the way in normal operation. The choice is Daylight (only the daylight white LEDs are illuminated), Warm White (only the warm white LEDs are illuminated) and Cool White (both sets of LEDs are illuminated equally). The light will use the same amount of power whichever setting you use as the included power supply is a constant power LED driver. The power supply connects to the light with a twist-locking DC power plug that is standard for LED lighting panels, extension leads for this are easily purchasable if needed.Certainly an ideal light fitting for cupboards or small spaces, or where reduced headroom is an issue as the light only encroaches about 1.5mm into the room.

Good looking panel light with 3 differing light shades.
This is a neat looking, ultraslim (1" thick) LED light, which comes with 3 light shades for your chosen ambience. We tested it with a cable and choc blocks, its gives off a good light of either bright white, dimmed white or slightly coloured. Certainly will do for the coat area between our lounges. The cable from the light to the colour selector is very short, couple of inches, so when the light is mounted in the panel it will be almost directly under or by the side of the light (we want overhead). This switch doesn't allow for fixing, could be stuck in place with pads or glue at worse, as the theory is you're not going to be using it all the while. From the switch you have around 4" to the transformer, so its straight back behing the panel. From the transformer there's another couple on inches or red and brown cable. The light is held into place by 2 quite strong spring clips, so should be any problems when popped into place. It'll make a nice light, we are just having to work out the logistics for the colour switch, we shall probably cut and extend it to a convenient position, or possibly create a box for it and use it in a cellar stairway we have.
