I cannot believe this mascara, especially at this price. It looked great, didn't clump, and lasted all day. But I don't touch my eyes much during the day, so not sure if that makes a difference. And the color is awesome!!! It's actually BROWN, not black pretending to be brown. It wiped off easily with a Water Wipe When I first looked at the brush, I thought, 'This is definitely going to involve some cursing.' Much to my surprise, it lays out a nice lash from root to tip. Then if you hold it vertically/upright and brush the tip up through your lashes, it lengthens the look of the lashes even further (that's usually true with most brush styles, so it was just a general makeup tip). The formula is on the drier side, but easy to work with. I don't like wet mascara anyway...for me, drier formulas clump way less. And this mascara didn't end up on everything eyelash adjacent, too, which is a bonus for those of us who are sometimes dexterity challenged. Anyway, suuuuuper happy about this mascara. And I haven't been very happy with the last 20ish mascaras I've tried [Maybeline Falsies Lash Lift is very nice if you are in the market for a black mascara. Unfortunately it was much too dark for my ultra fair, red-head complexion.]

I can’t believe i haven’t bought an essence mascara till now. THIS ONE IS AMAZING!! If you like a very dramatic voluminous mascara look in addition to length this might not be for you .. BUT if you like a more natural mascara look with ofc more length THIS IS PERFECT!! Im assuming it’s because of the applicator (it’s my first time seeing one like this.. like all silicone ? no bristle? idk how to explain it) but it’s very difficult to get a clumpy look, soooo good. It just glides and coats it evenly and lightly, each individual strand of hair.. so it really does just give the appearance of my natural lashes just slightly longer and darker (or lighter if you got a lighter color, i purchased brown and black). Now if you do prefer a clumpy look, it isn’t really impossible, it’s actually very buildable. It’s just that most mascaras i’ve purchased i’ve always had to brush some product off with a spoolie brush because it was TOO MUCH. It would clump my lashes together on the first or second swipe and just feel soo thick and heavy on my eyelids but this one doesn’t do that at all so it’s the main highlight for me. It hasn’t irritated my eyes after a couple weeks of use and it did come off easily when double cleansing or with just a water based cleanser (foamy wash). I did purchase the regular one so i cannot say the same for the waterproof version. Haven’t noticed any smudging as well through out the day but it has been pretty cold these past few weeks so that might change in the summer (i have oily skin so smudge is pretty common for mascaras that aren’t waterproof, but i’ll be back with an update in the summer). Overall, I would definitely repurchase this and recommend to any one who prefers a more natural lash look just enhanced.

This is my go-to mascara for day wear. One coat is enough, and the brown color provides a softer, more natural look for my maturing eyes. It last all day with rarely a smudge. The wand is basic, but that’s good for quick, simple application. In the photo below, you’ll see what it looks like 8 hours after I put it on. I also used it to touch up my eyebrows.

I am in love! As a blonde with fair skin, it is hard to find a brown mascara that looks "natural but better." Everything is brown-black which to me is just black and still too harsh, especially since I don't do full face makeup. I have long eyelashes, they're just invisible without mascara, lol. I have never met a mascara that didn't smudge, flake, or burn my eyes and had given up on it completely for several years now. I'm not sure how I landed on this mascara out of the blue, but curiosity got me and its cheap with good reviews so I thought what the heck. OMG I am so glad I took a chance!!! It perfectly accentuates lashes with a natural brown shade, goes on smooth with no clumps, I only needed one coat, it stayed beautifully all day (doing housework and forgetting I had makeup on, also with watery allergy eyes, sneezing alot), not a single smudge or flake in sight!!! I ended up falling asleep in the livingroom watching tv, and when I woke up it just looked like I had never put any mascara on. No racoon eyes, no flakes, it just simply vanished! Not that I recommend going to bed without washing your face, but it happens, and that's how it turned out. I can only imagine that it washes off just as easily. My only worry is that every time I find a product that is my holy grail, they either quit making it or change the formula. I hope this one sticks around a good long while because it is PERFECTION!!!

Holy mackerel! FINALLY!! After hunting, literally, for DECADES, I finally find a mascara that works for me! First of all, it is a true BROWN color! (Black/Brown…really? I think it’s masquerading as just a regular Black!) B/B doesn’t work at all for someone like me who is a very light, true blonde, with extremely fair skin. Second, it doesn’t clump. Third, it washed right off when I needed it to. Fourth, it went on easily. I have issues with my right hand shaking. I had no problem putting on this mascara. And since it doesn’t clump, I didn’t end up looking like Tammy Faye…! I don’t normally use caps when typing, but I did this time to reflect how I really feel about the product, how excited and pleased I am with it! I am 72 years old and have been searching everywhere for a true brown-colored mascara. This one looks perfect and natural with my complexion. When I was a young adult, Maybelline made a true brown, I think. At some point in time, brown mascara morphed into black/brown everywhere.With my coloring, it just never worked, regardless of high-end pricing. I am absolutely THRILLED with this product! I can’t say enough about it!

When i first got the mascara it was amazing; my lashes were long, it did not smudge and it was cheap. After a few days of using i realized it was not as good as i thought. the mascara does not come off easily and i don’t really know how to describe the texture it is as drying as a waterproof mascara, but not waterproof; while it does not come off in the shower easily even with eye makeup removal at first when you try to take it off its kinda like a tubing mascara then it acts like a mascara that has absolutely no moisture and will strip your natural moisture and oils from your lashes. When i used to use it, almost every time i was removing the mascara i lost lashes.😕 Overall it is great for length and if you get it i would recommend layering a hydrating mascara under it and putting lash serum on in the morning and night so your lashes stay healthy and look full and long when you wear mascara.😁 I recommend the lash serum from elf btw.

I’ve been using this mascara for about a month now and not only did I have to come write a review but I’m willing to post a creepy close up of my eye on the internet because this mascara is literally the best ever. I’ll start by saying I’ve struggled with lashes all my life. I feel like my lashes need the umph of mascara but I have very flat, spaced-out lashes so mascara often just winds up accentuating the things I dislike about my lashes in the first place. I spent years getting lash extensions because of this, and was left with even flatter, thinner lashes as a result. I’ve tried to figure out what it is that makes this mascara so different from any mascara I’ve ever used and I think it’s a few things: 1. The price point!!! For $5? Give it a try. I’d pay top dollar for this. 2. The color is fab. I’ve always been more of a brown eye make up girl and it’s tough to find a good brown mascara. This one looks very natural but isn’t too light. I have to imagine the black would be just as great if that’s the color you prefer. 3. The “pliability”? This mascara holds shape without looking clunky. If you have flat lashes or lashes that grow in a weird direction, you can literally mold them into place with this brush and they will stay put all day. It’s mind boggling. 4. The fluffiness. This is the ONLY mascara I’ve ever used that gives my lashes the same volume effect as lash extensions without looking like spider legs. It fills in gaps, lengthens, and darkens WITHOUT looking heavy and clumpy. I’ve never been able to wear mascara without other eye makeup to balance it and this has been a game changer. 5. The wearability. Everyone hates mascaras that flake, smear, etc. None of the above happen with this formula. Not only that, but if you get a little on your skin while applying, it comes right off - and it’s super easy to wash off at the end of the day. I don’t know what they put in this to make it so perfect but BUY IT NOW. I can confidently say I’ll never use another mascara again!

First off, I never write reviews as a rule, But this is the end of a long quest. I used a loreal brand of mascara for years before it was discontinued. The quest then began. I am snobby about mascara and Have spent a literal fortune trying to replace my tried and true. Please cosmetic companies could you please offer sample sizes of mascara, PLEASE. I bought this as a last ditch effort to find something. Reviews were mostly positive and at the price point of under 5 bucks , why not? Holy crap batman, this is it. No nasty smell, no having to scrape tons of excess product off the wand, no nasty thick clumps...dries quickly and very build-able. Offered in brown ( a huge plus). It wore pretty well with minimal smudging and washed off easily. At a price point of under 5 bucks it is more then worth the money. Highly recommend. my search is over...
