Ferdinand [Blu-ray]

My nephew wanted to stay up with me and watch a movie (clearly I’m the cool aunt). He asked if I knew about ‘Ferdinand’. Of course! I read the book a while ago (we don’t have to get into specifics). We got cozy and started the film and he fell asleep halfway through (he plays hard at school). There must’ve been a lot of irritants in the air, because my eyes were watery several times. As wonderful as I remembered it and compared notes with my nephew in the morning.

My favorite kids movie by far!!!!So beautiful and without EVIL shaddows. Just portraying how someone can be bullied for staying true to their self and yet they can become the hero of everyone else.A beautiful lesson enwrapped in funny moments and sad moments. I highly recommend this movie.

***This review is for parents who might be passing up this movie based a few severe negative reviews. May be a little bit of a spoiler, though I don't give any details. *** I truly have to wonder if the negative reviewers watched the movie all the way through? If they did, I don't think they would be so severe. The ending won't leave you or children down. It has a great climax that ends beautifully. The movie will stir up many emotions but leave you happy if you watch it all the way. If you don't watch it all the way, then you probably will be in tears.

What a twist on the old classic. I watched the original when I was a kid bad in 19__ (no you don't get to know) and I loved the bull. It is just so much fun to see how they have lengthend the story but kept to same basic story of the gentle giant bull that only wants to sit on his hill and sniff flowers. It is kind of nice to see a movie that does not have a load of violence in it and everyone lives in the end, you get tired of all the blood and guts after a while. So kudos to the writers for this movie.

Honestly I thought this movie was going to be so stupid and ruin a beloved classic in our bed time story routine. I was happily mistaken! No it is not anything like the classic Ferdinand story but, it has a lot of fun music, wholesome jokes that are actually funny, and a really good lesson as the central storyline. My boys ask to watch it at least twice a week and because the film is presented in a way that is very relatable to them it offers us a good opportunity to discuss physical aggression and bullying. Overall this mom of two gives Ferdinand 5 stars.

I cry every time we put this movie on. I love the lessens it teaches. And they expanded on the original story in a way that I actually don’t mind (I usually hate liberties taken with adaptations of movies from books).If you have sensitive kids (mine doesn’t like the “rude” people or bulls and gets really sad when they are mean to Ferdinand), talking with them about how we treat others or how we can help others if we see this kind of behavior is helpful and empowering. Also, we can and do tend to talk about how Ferdinand takes all the negativity and looks beyond that to see the truth behind the words or actions. And how his kindness is, ultimately, acknowledged and rewarded.We love it.

We've watched over and over and over. The kids love this movie as we missed it at the movie theater. Very nice to sit at home with popcorn and watch a family movie without leaving the couch. thank you!

Best money ever spent. For some reason my 1 year old is so entertained by this movie and will watch it intently at least 1x a day. I don't mind watching it, definitely one of the better movies but I Love having an hour to get stuff done! Everyone in the family purchased it for their homes when they watch the little man. We will have a soft spot for this movie forever now ♡

Loved the film. Grandchildren love to watch it.
