Where is this cap made, China?

Our replacement filter caps are responsibly made in China. These are made from BPA-Free Polypropylene Plastic. Take note that this is not an OEM part. The cap is made and sold by South Street Designs, not Aerobie.

Why was this not airtight?? Water came out the sides and scalded me.

I’ve had that happen even with the original cap that came with my aeropress. I came here looking for a cap that doesn’t have side opening. Not sure why those are needed…

Explain how ...the filter cap can deteriorate and affect your coffee quality?

I’ve had this South Street replacement filter cap for so long and used it many times a day and I have not noticed a change in the way my favorite coffee tastes and haven’t experienced any deterioration. I rinse it and wash it by hand and I’ve never washed it in the dishwasher, however, I use very hot water and even give the grounds a stir after pouring the water in the press. I was grateful to find this replacement filter cap.after I accidentally threw away my original with the grounds one morning and failed to catch my mistake until the next day when thee garbage was long gone. I continue to feel grateful to have it every time I enjoy a delicious, perfectly prepared pressed cup of coffee.
