This brand of manual sharpener has worked like non other I have tried before. I am a college student and it last me a very long time. Does not break the pencil like other sharpeners.

Very portable - small enough for a backpack but large enough to use easily and not to need to empty too often. Love the transparent cup - catches shavings and I can easily see when it needs to be emptied. The lid snaps shut tightly so no debris escapes while carrying this sharpener around. It requires more pressure than I expected to snap the cup open and close for emptying, but that is a good thing as the cup stays securely shut. Only had for a few days, but already used it to sharpen various types of pencils, from common no.2 to professional artist grade, including color, sketching, pastel, watercolor and charcoal pencils. Worked fine with no fuss on all for me. With a manual sharpener, I find the trick is not to press too hard, not to rush and to pay attention to the angle you are sharpening at - different angles produce variations in the pencil point. Takes a little practice, but it’s not rocket science. I used some inexpensive no. 2 pencils to experiment and get the hang of this model before using on my pricier colored pencils, lol. This is an all purpose sharpener and does not make really long artist’s points for shading, but long enough for me so far. I may buy a long point sharpener also, like the Kum AS2 sharpener or similar.

Being of German design (though made in China), I’m not surprised this thing was good. I stumbled upon one of these at my mother in law’s office where the structural engineers had endless different types of pencil sharpeners (maybe a relic from the days before CAD?). Anyway, expected it to last a week. It’s been a few years and the thing has only now started giving me bad results. Never once had shavings get stuck in the blades. The thing never opens accidentally yet is still super easy to open for disposing of shavings.

This thing has stayed sharp through many uses so far. The holes are marked “graphite” and “color and graphite”. As an artist I’m kind of ashamed to not know this or have recognized the angle changes- but putting colored pencils in the graphite hole made them crazy sharp, and the day the blade dulled a bit, the steep angle had my colored pencils splitting in half. So definitely use the colored side for colored pencils. Otherwise, easy to empty, stays closed when in use, and the little cover is nice to prevent shavings from falling out when it’s in a bag. This brand always makes great stuff.

Lousy sharpener. Small side was dull. The large side was too small for larger eye pencils.

When one is to sharpen a wooden pencil he remain uncertain if he will succeed or not because it breaks the lead often. Much of this is due to lesser degree of sharpness is there in the cutter blade fitted therein. Further there is a problem having to inherent defect in positioning the cutting angle. The only solace here is that majority of dirts get collected within the collecting box/chamber.

There is nothing I don’t like about this sharpener it’s excellent.....I do wish they did spare blades, I hate to think it will be more plastic thrown away because I can’t changed them blades.
