Before purchase I considered buying a dimmer operated by a remote controller, a one off expense, and to buy bulbs that would need regular replacement. My previous experience with LED dimmers is that they need to be set to match the LEDs to prevent flicker or poor operation. Although this is not always the case I decided to purchase this in-one solution for a dining room table lamp.Hopefully the bulb will last long enough to warrant the expense. If the bulb is replaced with identical I may be able to use the optical remote as a spare but cannot confirm that this will be the case.This is excellent. There are pre programmed light settings. There's an image of a baby's feeding bottle on the remote and selecting this is an ideal brightness and colour temperature for eating at the table. All preprogrammed settings can be adjusted or any light setting can be set using the remote.In addition to the light settings it has at least 2 features I'm aware of. The first is that it has a 1 hour timer, the second is that the remote has a magnet which enables me to attach it to the metal lamp stand.So far so good and I'd recommend this. It's as easy to fit as changing a light bulb.

Bulb woz good to start with but after 3 monthz now Flickrz wich no good az i hav epelpzy zo have to bin it dont wazt your money

I'm very impressed with the product. I can change the ambience with the different lighting settings quickly with the remote control. It's exactly just what I wanted and not too expensive
