It is so good that it is easy to go overboard. Be aware.

This tahini halva arrived in a plastic container inside a cardboard container with a clear plastic window. Despite being tightly sealed, the outside of the plastic container and inside of the cardboard one were kind of greasy. Even after wiping off the plastic container, I couldn't really tell how the lid came off. I was thinking I may have to hit it with a hammer:). Finally I felt the top lid turn and thought it was a screw top but then couldn't turn it further. I was getting a bit frustrated and finally got a fingernail under the lip of what turned out to be a pop-off lid. Whew! No hammer needed. The halva was a bit squished and looked like it might be messy to remove from the container but two pieces popped right out with a fork and my spouse and I each ate one. The halva was the correct texture I expected and tasted of tahini without being too bitter. One piece is pretty rich and my spouse said it tasted exactly like what it was, but wasn't his favorite. I liked it but didn't go rushing back for a second piece. Overall, it is what I would expect, but I wish the container was better and easier to open. I set it on a plate on my counter because I didn't want it to leave grease marks anywhere.

We like halva - we purchase it regularly from our local Mediterranean Food Market. We like all varieties, but especially like the ones with pistachios in the mix. I was looking forward to testing this product, but alas, my hopes were dashed - it arrived in an unusable condition.The halva I usually have previously purchased is sold in a heavy plastic container, with a sturdy lid. This halva is packed in a lightweight cellophane-type plastic container, the kind take-a-way is sold in. It of course cracked, both the lid and the base. The oils from the halva leaked out, saturating the carboard box the halva container sits in, and even leaking through the Amazon box it arrived in.With the high chance of contamination, we were reluctantly forced to throw this away, unsampled. Which was unfortunate, as it smelled very good.Marketing this product to be shipped, the company should have done a better job to ensure that it would arrive in a useable manner. If it tasted only half as good as it smelled, it would have easily earned 5 stars. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this product, and am forced to give it only 1 star.

The taste of this tahini halva is pretty good and for me 1/4 of a piece is plenty because it’s so sweet. My family all agreed it tasted good and was very sweet. However, we all noticed an after taste that wasn’t great. None of us have had halva before so don’t know if this is normal. The texture is like a slightly gritty nut butter, more smooth than gritty and it sort of melts in your mouth. This snack/dessert would satisfy any sweet tooth and should last awhile since you only need a small amount. Even though it’s so sweet, I think the other ingredients are fairly healthy.

I'll be honest, I've never had tahini halva before so I don't know what it's "supposed" to taste like. That being said I really liked it. It's somehow slightly oily on the outside while actually being crispy and lightweight when you bite into it. It's a ton of thin fibers and it has a dryness similar to shortcake, but the texture and flavor is completely different. Just grab a box of this stuff and try it, it's worth it.
