Perfect replacement
Bought as the original controller backing and rubber grips had started to peel off. This is a perfect replacement and looks very good, just be aware that fitting it is faily fiddly and requires some patience.

Shouldn't be necessary but otherwise fantastic
I was initially hesitant to buy this product as it should not be necessary. PlayStation seems to be insistent on selling poorly designed products that are not designed to last. Fortunately peeling grips are much easier to deal with than multiple pairs of snapped headphones. I originally liked the look of the clear black model but was hesitant and ended up choosing black. Fortunately the order fell through as they ran out of stock and so I went for my original choice which was definitely the correct decision. The clear black model both looks and feels great on the controller. It doesn't have the same level of grip as the original but it absolutely isn't a problem. The kit includes everything you need and the included documentation has a link to an installation video which is easy to follow, although it may take a few attempts to remove the shell. Be careful not to injure yourself removing it. The video included this warning but it was a bit too late for me. I found that one of the clips didn't quite clip in the back which left a very minor gap but it is barely noticeable. I might be able to take it off and adjust it but I don't want to risk damaging the shell by removing it. There wasn't any padding in the box but fortunately the shell was light enough that it didn't sustain any damage during transit.

Overall good but…
Ok, so I have 2 Edge Controllers. I’m very OCD about my things and looks after them. I have both my Edge controllers in covers/ cases because I want to keep them protected from wear, marks, discolouring etc. I recently read about the issue with the rubber grips peeling on the Edge controllers and became concerned because it seems to be a widespread issue. The rubber grips blister at first and then start to peel away. Not good for a £200 controller and also a massive design blunder by Sony. I haven’t had this issue, I think mainly because I am very careful when I handle my controllers and the fact they are in covers which help combat friction between your hands and the rubber grip on the controller when using it. The last thing I wanted was for the rubber on my Edge controllers peeling away. Sony do not appear to sell replacement back plates. Also, the back plates on the Edge controller had the data stamp on it, with serial number etc. So if the original back plate is ruined by peeling rubber, you’re pretty much screwed. You won’t be able to get a replacement with your serial number etc on it. If you send the controller back to Sony for repair, they may just fit another back plate to it that doesn’t have your original data stamped on it. There is a chance they might make a new back plate for you and also print all your controllers original data on it, but I don’t think they’ll go to those lengths. My friend had just sent his back to Sony for peeling rubber. He will receive it back any day. I asked him to take pics of the original back plate so we can see what he receives back from Sony, so I will soon see what Sony does when “repairing” this issue! Anyway, the solution for me was to buy replacement back plates and store my originals in the controller packaging. It’s not great that we have to do this and I’m sure Sony will be revising the design of the Edge grips in due course. They are having ALOT of Edge’s sent back to them so they will have to address this. These extreme rate plates are decent enough. The finish is good. I got 1 blue set and 1 red set. Disappointed to see that the insides of the plates were not painted. Makes them look cheap and unfinished. Yes, you won’t see the insides but for £30+, they should have painted all of it. The fitment is 90%. There are two small gaps on either side on the back of the controller. It’s minor but the gaps are there. I have my controllers in covers so I’m not overly bothered. The main aim for me was to preserve the original Edge back plates. I didn’t swap out the release switch rail. Honestly, there’s no need. Just keep the original in place and keep the extreme rate rail stored. I’m actually surprised extreme rate went to the trouble of making a replacement rail JUST to have a matching colour on the very very small slider switch that releases the front plate. I mean, I’m all about the OCD, but even I am happy keeping the original release switch rail in place and unmolested. I also think that the material that Sony use will be superior to the extreme rate rail. No offence. All in all, decent fitment and nice finishes. But could be better for the price. One more thing, to you, extreme rate… You really need to package the plates better. The boxes are lovely and strong. But you literally put both plates in the same plastic bag, unprotected. This means that they are free to rub against each other and scratch each other. There are 2 small scratches on my blue set. This really annoyed me because it could have been avoided if you had just put them in little sleeves before packing them. Because of my reason for buying these and he fact I have covers on my controllers, I am willing to let it go. But if I didn’t use covers, I would be returning the blue set for replacements. Just a friendly heads up!

Recomended
Very easy to install, feels good quality, much better than the default grips Was expensive for what it is but overall I cant complain. Looks very nice when installed.

A great option
Perfect replacement for original controller back plate which had become worn. Went for the black option which looks and feels good. Fairly straightforward to swap out the old and insert new, even as someone who normally struggles with that kind of thing. Whether the original should be more durable at such a high price point is another matter…

Nice but only fit correctly after modification
Fantastic to have a trim that is a genuine solution for the peeling grips on the PS5 Edge Controller - not cheap but feels decently made, looks good and in my instance possible to make fit correctly after some minimal trimming... sadly only after another clip had snapped despite watching as many installation guides as I could find and reading reviews - I'm mechanically minded and have reasonable experience dismantling and repairing this kind of thing. Unsure if it's worth returning for a replacement as this one fits correctly now even if a bit damaged inside ... but I am curious if the clips that seem to be causing everyone fitment issues, differed in some way from the official trim enough to cause them to bend/crush during the fitting process? Seems likely as refitting the original trim had no such issue with gaps or crushing the clips in that place after removing and refitting a number of times.

Stylish Upgrade That Adds Personality Without Compromising Function
I installed the eXtremeRate wood grain decorative shell on my DualSense Edge, and it completely transformed the look of my controller without interfering with performance. If you're into customizing your setup, this shell is a fantastic DIY option. ✅ Pros Color & Finish: The wood grain texture looks surprisingly high-end—not glossy or fake. It adds warmth and character without clashing with the controller’s original buttons. Durability: Snaps in securely with no flex or looseness. I’ve used it daily for two weeks, and there’s no sign of wear or chipping. Weight: Adds virtually no noticeable weight, which means the controller’s balance stays intact. Grip Feel: Despite being decorative, the shell doesn't make the controller slippery. I was worried it would affect grip, but the matte texture feels great even during longer play sessions. Comfort: No sharp edges or awkward fit—the trim aligns well with the controller’s ergonomic curves, keeping hand fatigue low. Easy Installation: Took less than 10 minutes. No tools required, and the clips didn't feel like they’d snap under pressure. ❌ Cons Not for Beginners: If you’ve never disassembled a controller, the idea of removing the original shell can be a bit intimidating. Watch a video tutorial first. Limited Reusability: Once installed, removing and swapping the trim again isn’t as clean or easy. It's best treated as a semi-permanent upgrade. 📝 Final Thoughts If you’re customizing your controller for aesthetics or personal branding, this shell hits the sweet spot. It’s functional, durable, and elevates the look without affecting gameplay. I’d love to test future texture styles if eXtremeRate expands the lineup.

Schick und elegant
Super schicke Schale. Hat meinem kontroller einen frischen neuen Hauch gegeben. Meine Gummierung ist abgegangen deswegen musste was anderes her. Fühlt sich hochwertig an und passt perfekt. Falls Sie das Gefühl haben, es passe nicht, bitte kontrollieren ob jeder Pin am richtigen Ort sitzt und festgedrückt wurde.

Easy to Install, Comfortable on the Fingertips
I always hated that rubbery feeling on the rear of the DualSense Edge. This is eXtremeRate product is very easy to install, if you just follow the YouTube link they provide you. It's not the coolest product to be transparent, but at least it's more comfortable for my fingertips now! 🙂
