Mad Rhythm: The Tragic Journey of Jim Gordon, Rock's Greatest

Jim Gordon is still a hero to me.
The story of Jim Gordon's murder of his mother is well known. Learning about his struggle with schizophrenia was revealing and sad.The author went to great lengths to collect information about Jim's career and his aberrant behavior. Jim played on many more recording than I know about. I have sought out many more of his recordings and I continue to be impressed with his playing.I went through the book faster than I expected, not because I was trying to go quickly. Instead, I found the story compelling as well as informative. For those who want to know more about one of rock's greatest drummers, get it, read it, and appreciate Jim's contributions to some trully memorable music.

Jim Gordon
A thorough coverage of the struggles that were Gordon's life. Professionally from first being employed by the Everly Brothers at age 17, and his important session work, to his marriages and sadly the demons that increasingly plagued his life leading to the tragic events of the 1980s. He had an outstanding talent and a beautiful soul until the drugs and demons increasingly took control of his life. A must-read for any devotees of Gordon's work or the people he worked with and he worked with the very best musicians in the 1960s and early 70's.

Tragic…fascinating…enlightening. Excellent book, so well written, captures the triumph and ultimate horror of a gifted, tortured soul.

A Story of Fame and Tragedy.
Jim Gordon was one of the best drummers in the world but, mental illness robbed him of his talent. Sadly he is more famous for the tragic events that took place after his music career ended. This is a must read for musicians, and non musicians.
