Some stores like Michaels sell coated wire which looks awful when you wire wrap it. Even though copper is cheap, they seem to think you need to coat it and it ruins your project and wastes your time. Plus, real copper can be altered via heat or patina rub, whereas coated wire can't. Another great thing is that the price is reasonable-not inflated simply because it's for jewelry. It's priced similarly to copper wire from a hardware store but is in an easier to use roll. It's thin enough that you don't necessarily need to anneal it like some thicker copper wires. The thicker the wire, the less times you can twist and turn it without it breaking. Normally, on a 20 or 22 gauge I cover the pieces with flux and burn that off with a torch to anneal it and make it flexible. In the case of this thinner wire, I haven't had to do that. I just don't go too long with the strips of wire. One really great look for this is texturing and distressing two separate pieces, lining up holes with a tiny hole punch along both, then wiring them together with the copper wire. **Q: I need wire to hold up plastic snakes for a Medusa costume. Will this work?**
A: My opinion is no. It bends easily anyone could grab it and it would bend. I dont think it would hold its shape once some weight got on it.

A: It is dead soft

**Q: Ttem is listed as bare copper wire,yet description says that it has coating that is tarnish resistant&permanently enameled.Is it bare or not?**
A: The wire is basically bare with a coating that prevents tarnish (supposedly).  The appearance is the same as untarnished copper wire.  I use it for inexpensive wire-wrap rings.  I have sold hundreds over the years and no complaints from customers.  Other jewelry that I have made using recycled electrical wire which does not have this coating, will tarnish very quickly unless you coat it with a varnish or clear nail polish.  ALL copper, regardless of coating, will tarnish because the coating wears off.  The artistic wire with the coating is good for inexpensive jewelry but it will eventually tarnish and it does turn some fingers green.  In short, if you are making copper wire rings, this wire is probably your best bet.

**Q: Does it tarnish?**
A: I have been using this brand for over 5 years now. I make needle felted creatures and use it for all kinds of embellishments. It does darken or “tarnish” in a good way. It takes over a year to really see any difference. It would be easily cleaned with a soft copper cleaning cloth
