Beast of a saw, can't even tell it's on batteries!
This saw is what I wanted. I've been borrowing my dad's 10" Ryobi for years, finally moved too far to keep that up so I bought this. I'm already heavily invested in the Makita system with many many batteries, so I bought the bare tool version. On (2) 5.0ah batteries, it lasts and lasts.Cuts were straight, even. Saw is smooth. Motor is too, electronic brake is nice. Miters worked well. I did notice a very very slight dishing on straight cuts like some others mentioned, but it didn't bother my project and I haven't tried adjusting it out yet. Only noticed when holding a straight edge to the cut. Tall fence is great for crown moulding.The slider mechanism is great, strong. Button positions and tool ergonomics can't be beat. All the lockouts and adjustments are at the front of the saw so no stooping over the saw or moving it around.Saw is big, and heavy, as a 12" saw should be. That means I need a new workbench! oh, darn...:)Very happy with the purchase.

Since I am constantly doing home renovations and cutting wood almost every day, this tool has been nothing but effective and one of my new favorites!

Awesome saw, ran base for two days before we had to change the batteries, the AVS with the bluetooth vacuum removed up to 80% of the dust.
