Immediately after applying the gel, it might feel like it isn't doing much, but give it a few minutes and you'll notice the difference. In my experience, it really helps soothe the burning sensation and reduce pain, even with quite painful burns. I've also found that it seems to speed up the healing process. The key is to apply it as soon as possible after the burn and then reapply several times over the following day or two. Definitely worth keeping in your first aid kit.
