I’m very pleased with this halter (I bought 2). It’s well made, and I think it’s so smart that there’s only a small leather tab on the side instead of the entire crown, which always ends up stretching out and breaking fairly easily. I like using a fly veil on my horses during the summer (I think they’re cooler than masks), which means they need to wear halters. I also worry about horses getting hung up in a trailer. For both of these reasons I like having a break away halter. I also like the fact that the size I bought fits both of my quarter horses that have different size heads.

This breakaway halter is nicely padded on the nose band and head band. The ad was a little misleading, it says leather but look closely, these halters are corded. The only leather part is the breakaway strap. I ordered purple and it was true to color when I received it. I am only unhappy with the durability. The throat strap clip already broke and my filly has only been wearing the halter during the day for the past month. I'm hoping this isn't a sign of things to come, and was just a fluke part. Overall, I can't complain. You get what you pay for.Update: I am happy to report that the company is replacing the defective halter. I was asked to supply information and photographs by Shalana in customer service at the Weaver company. She was very pleasant and helpful.

These halters are awesome. I have a purple one still going strong since 2004. I just bought a red one for my Dad's horse and it looks great on him. The padding is nice and doesn't rub hair off the nose. If they get dirty theu are easily cleaned by hosing them off. The colored stripe stays vibrant for years, unlike normal nylon halters tbat fade quickly over time. Many of my friends have them and love them too.

Nice product but tight on my 16.2hh Irish Sport Horse. Buckle opening sits on horses cheek which I think is a design flaw because it looks like it would rub if on for any length of time. Halter break away leather broke on first use as horse pulled back. Definitely worked but I won't use it again because it is a bit small for my big headed fella and I don't like the design of the snap rubbing on cheek. OK product but not suitable for my needs.

I purchased this a month ago when I needed a breakaway halter for my mare’s grazing muzzle. I didn’t have time to wait for shipping from other sites and was skeptical of my somewhat limited options on amazon, but I’m so glad I made this purchase! It really is excellent quality, true to size, adjustable nose band, appears to be very made well with nice material and padding and a beautiful royal purple color. Granted it’s only been one month but she has not gotten rubs from it, contrary to her pasture mates and our experience last summer with other halters. Highly recommend!

Don't usually halter pasture horses but have one that is difficult to catch and this halter works great, hasn't rubbed any spots on his face and he is wearing it just fine.

Love this halter. Good looking and durable. The breakaway pieces is easy to replace when needed. There is even room to punch another hole in the leather to use it twice (my horse is an idiot). Snaps on and off easily. The padding is very gentle on my TB. Will definitely buy again.

I do like the color options for this breakaway halter. The padded areas don't seem that thick or soft. The hardware is chipped looking in certain spots. For the price it could be a tad nicer. I ordered the Lettia breakaway for a friend and it ended up being way nicer than these and only a few $s more.

The quality seems quite nice, I love the vibrant red and the padded parts for the horse's comfort. The safety part is great, and I purchased the replacement parts with Chicago screws just in case. Seems like a great halter for the price. Doesn't run too large either, I think it will fit most horses, especially with the two ajustable zone. My horse is 14 hands and it fits him fine.

Good quality halter but it's definitely on the small side. I managed to squeeze my horse's head in it but it was way too tight. She's a Percheron Paint cross so her head is smaller than that of a Percheron and bigger than a QH...this halter wasn't big enough.

Very durable. My horse is skilled at breaking halters and has yet to break this one. The padding is comfortable and does not rub.

It's exactly what the product description says it is. Fits my horse perfectly. Great Weaver quality.
