Professor Arciento's Horrors of ZOMA Part 1
I found this volume of Sankarea to be the best and most interesting volume yet. Assuming those reading this are more or less up-to-date on the story of Sankarea I shall potentially reveal some spoilers so read on at your own risk.-SPOILER WARNING-Picking up from where the last volume left off our hero Chihiro has (of course) much to his mixed joy and sadness found himself stuck in a jungle on a mysterious island separated from Rea (who has had the last living part of her brain excised from her skull) by the sadistic, Chief ZOMA Researcher/father of Darin, Professor Arciento whose past (and Darin's) is finally fleshed-out. Professor Boyle manages to have also traveled to the island and meets-up with Chihiro to assist him in saving Rea and putting a stop to the depraved and obssessed Professor Arciento at the cost of his own life.-SPOILERS END-All in all this volume manages to really build the world of Sankarea by expanding on why various people would attempt to raise the dead in addition to how that would be covertly handled and researched in addition to telling more about the zombies of this particular fictional universe while keeping the series fanservicy goodness more or less intact though the more I read this series the more that last aspect seems to fall into the background which is not an unwelcome change.

So good
~4/5I don’t know where this series is taking me anymore. I thought it was going to do some big huge surprise, only for it to deflate a little, then go in a different direction.Grandpa shows up to reveal some surprising things to Chihiro, and then leave us with a cliffhanger. Meanwhile, Rea has lost her memory, and might possibly be better? This is going to be bad, especially for Chihiro. There are surprising things happening to her zombie life. But then there’s also some really bad stuff happening between Darin and her father, who is a horrible person. This series is just ridiculously exciting. I love what’s happening with the zombie plot, and all the reveals are happening at a great pace. I also appreciate that it doesn’t shy away from being horrible—with the zombie stuff, but also with characters like Darin’s dad. Then there was a chapter for Mero, in the midst of all this stuff, for her to meet some people and go out and do something, since it’s only her and her father at home. This was an all right chapter, but mostly cause I like Mero.I’m excited for the next volume, to see what happens next in this series.[More of my reviews are available on my blog, Geeky Reading, to which there's a link on my profile.]

every zombie eats somebody sometime
finally its out! i'm loving the cover artwork for the north American versions. this is a great book from a series that has been able to keep my attention since the beginning. Without giving anything away, character development is a strong theme, along with an overall darker overtone. this edition did not disappoint, more zombies and more awkward romance (best mix ever!) I can't wait for the next one!
