Seriously disappointing Seller!
This CD was purchased as a Christmas present for my wife but when we eventually sat down to watch it the CD was found to be defective and had to be returned! Even before we started to run the CD we found it difficult to identify which disc held the actual film as only one of the two discs was labelled and, as it turned out, the film was on the unlabelled disc! I also see from other reviews that other buyers had the same problems. Won't buy from this Seller again!

Amazon deliver intact which will not kill the anticipation .
A classic David Lean movie with memorable cinematography . If you've never seen this film , your soul will be enriched by the experience . As it is a lengthy marathon I appreciated the twin disk option allowing a little retrospective and a break for a cuppa . Just top marks for everything that counts .

One of the greatest epic films ever made
I normally review just the content of a film. But in this case I have to say that the actual discs themselves were extremely confusing. I can only assume that the film was assembled by someone who did not understand the language they were working in. And this did affect my comfort in watching the film. It starts with the overture - stunning music which very much sets the scene for the epic movie we are about to watch. A huge story adapted from the book by Boris Pasternak with a cast of thousands. I do not know if it is faithful to the book because I have not read it. An amazing cast all very well known in their day Alec Guiness superb as always also Rod Steiger. The love story between Omar Sharif's character and Julie Christie' character lacked passion in my view. The music 'Lara's theme' is extremely evocative and the name Lara was really unknown here before this film was made and has now become a popular girls name. I found their scenes disappointing. However the 'epic' scenes were outstanding. Huge crowd scenes with a cast of thousands and spacious scenes in the countryside is what makes this film so fantastic. The composition of the wide shots, the lighting, the movement of the trains, horse drawn carriages, smoke, clouds, absolutely superb, they all show the vastness of the country in which the terrible war takes place. The film is superb with the angst dominating but I would like the happy human love story to be warmer.
