These worked well for my application, which was receiving and holding firm the end of a rolling gate. They are solid and made of thick steel, although it’s hard to tell if the roller is plastic or nylon (I have another set from another manufacturer that is more obviously nylon, but it was much more expensive). I had to drill the holes to bolt it but a titanium bit worked fine. The rollers are easy to remove and remount for bolting, and there’s enough space between the roller and the holder for the bolt head into the wood. We’ll see how they hold up but I would recommend based on my experience.

These slide gate rollers are pretty heavy duty, and designed to allow for installation on multiple materials. The roller is wider than the mounting plate, so it can guard a slim gap by mounting on the next face of the structural member. Mounting: Requires drilling the steel backplate for your intended mounting hardware and positions. I used 4 holes in a zig-zag to ensure stability. The mount plate is a bit too wider than the 2" face of a 2x4, but fits easily on the 4" face.

I have a 6' wide opening on my deck where I am going to put stairs. the gate I built is rather heavy, and I need for my wife or I to be able to easily move it out of the way. I removed the wheel, drilled several holes in the, attached it to the gate flush with the bottom edge. Once I put the wheels back in place (one on either end of the gate), there was the perfect amount of clearance to easily roll the gate out of the way.
