With Bukowski, you know what you're getting. You're getting a sour bum with no cares but alcohol and women, no morals and no inhibitions. There are some great gems in here but you have to leave your British reserve at the dust cover because he holds no punches in his writings. Sometimes, in my opinion, he goes too far, sometimes it can feel predictable or inevitable sometimes he's downright surreal. If you like Bukowski then this is a great collection of great writing, but I wouldn't let my mother read it; she'd spit out her earl grey.
