How many are using that elastic loop for the extra strap or are you getting the bags situated where you want them and then cutting the strap shorter?

The extra strap should not be left dangling and should be rolled and passed through the elastic to avoid any accidents. If you wish to cut the strap you can do so, make sure you heat seal the end always cut it at an angle . Heat sealing the strap is essential. Modifying the bag voids any warranty.
