This is another great case, 8 full size internal bays, and 4 of 5.25" bays at the top - holds CD/DVD or even more HDD if you want.Excellent build quality, and the cable management (second attempt on my part) really makes for a tidy installation, all the cables fit through slots (lined with plastic covers) to hide away behind the main base.Great choice for fan placement so plenty of options for cooling, i only used the normal fans, and these seem to do the trick for me.All round great case, easy to work with, and a fine selection of all the various screws and fittings needed - a special treat was the small holder to allow you to easily fix the motherboard stand-offs with out having to reach for the screwdriver.I would say i'd buy another, but this is already my second Fractal case!If you're looking for a case with plenty of capacity, then this has got to be on the list.Happy building !

To start with, this case is big and heavy. It is a proper full tower so if you are looking for something for LAN parties this is not it (possibly look at the Define R4). However, if you are looking for a case to put under your desk, and leave it there, you should definitely buy this case. It is the Fractal Define R4's bigger and better brother. The case oozes class with its simple and elegant styling as we have come to expect from Fractal. There is absolutely no flex in the side panels and the overall build feels very solid for the asking price. Obviously its not same as aluminium Silverstone Fortress or Lian Li cases but in almost every other aspect it equals or better these more expensive cases.In its default configuration, with the included (but surprisingly good quality) 3 x 140mm fans, it is seriously quiet. No computer is silent but this is probably as close as you are going to get without sacrificing performance.At this moment in time, I have one r9 290 msi gaming and an i5 4670k cooled by a hyper evo. At idle you can here a low pitched hum from the case if there is complete silence in the room. Above that ambient noise level it is to all intents and purposes inaudible.If you need more cooling you can add more fans at the top and side but then you will lose some of the sound insulation and obviously gain more fan noise. The best thing about this case is it can be silent and cool, loud and freezing or anywhere in between depending on what you want to do with it. Its even pretty good for watercooling if I want to go that way in the future.All in all, this case has the best noise/performance to price ratio on the market and I would definitely recommend this case to anyone.

The case is a full tower but not too big. Lots of room inside to build. Practically no noise because of good sound proofing. Happy wth purchase.

Not much to say, big "old style" case, pretty clean on cable management, very quiet and sleek looking... shame I have received black version instead of the titanium one which is actually more expensive, sadly I needed to assemble the PC as soon as it arrived so I haven't complained to Amazon about that as I didn't have time to wait for a replacement.

Beautiful design, flexible interior so you can install stuff easy. Very good product. I can recommend this to anyone.

Purchased for an X299 PC Build project the XL-R2 was selected for it’s internal space - in particular the headroom between the motherboard and the roof so as to accommodate the Corsair H115i Pro RGB all in one dual Radiator with 140mm Fans.Whilst the clearance is acceptable it was disappointing that the radiator/fans mounting holes didn’t line up, necessitating drilling additional holes. This was something I was aware of from a review several years previous and something I hoped Fractal Design had addressed by now.A further disappointment was that whilst the Define R6 enjoys an upgrade front panel (additional purchase) to incorporate a USB C Gen 2 socket no such replacement front (with door) is available for its larger brother, the Define XL-R2.Fortunately, I was readily able to adapt the radiator fitting with a few extra holes and also to incorporate a Gen 2 USB C port to the top panel with a little imagination and some careful fabrication.During any future upgrade to this case design (XL-R3 perhaps?) consideration should be given to addressing these shortcomings.As to improvements, a refinement of the door hinge design to allow wider 270° fold back to the case side (as is commonplace with many case designs of a comparable quality) given that the current 90° is extremely restrictive.Another improvement would be to incorporate a number of 2.5” SSD mounting points directly to the internal case wall which would require minimal re-tooling (small change to the sheet metal press and additional tapped holes) and instantly increase the storage capacity whilst retaining the extremely versatile HDD drive bays in their 2 caddies.A further simple refinement would be to extend the removable HDD trays (or similar mechanism) to make the 4 Optical Drive bays similarly versatile with tool-less extraction.Despite these minor criticisms I was highly impressed by the overall design and build quality.The XL-R2 is a super solid, cavernous case which should satisfy most requirements for the PC enthusiast.Aesthetically, whilst the XL-R2 is quietly understated it is especially pleasing that the ‘quiet’ theme extends to ‘sound deadening’ were much attention to detail has been focused upon lining the case with materials which ensure that it is similarly quiet in operation!!

Loved the size and the spaced out bays for several drives. The cable management spaces are a nice touch. This case is quieter than my last thanks to the noise dampening attachments. Plenty of ventilation points for fans and space to circulate, I only have half the fan slots filled and still keep the CPU at an ambient temperature

Vengo da due CoolerMaster, un HAF922 e un HAF932. Entrambi ottimi case, del resto si parla di CoolerMaster, ma ho deciso di cambiare totalmente design e andare sul sobrio. A parte il design, riguardo al quale non posso esprimere un parere obiettivo ma solo personale (e devo dire che esteticamente è molto più bello dei precedenti case, sembra un case da server adattato per il gaming) tutto il resto è assolutamente di qualità. Iniziamo dall'imballo: pochi disegni o colore, solamente uno spesso cartone con il disegno stilizzato del case. All'interno troviamo il case avvolto da un sacco trasparente e da due forme di polistirolo rigido. Nella parte frontale presenta una pellicola di protezione. Il case è realizzato in acciaio, quasi interamente (la parte frontale è in plastica). In alto al case, nella parte frontale, troviamo il pulsante di accensione e quello di reset. Sono piacevoli alla pressione, danno un senso di qualità. Oltre a quelli abbiamo l'ingresso cuffie e l'uscita per le cuffie (sono duri, sembrano di bassa qualità, ma funzionano a dovere). Infine ci sono due USB 2.0 e due 3.0. Il pulsante di accensione è circondato da un LED blu che scende lievemente nella parte frontale. Quest'ultima si apre dalla parte destra verso la sinistra (quando è chiusa rimane tale grazie ad un magnete) e si accede ai vani da 5 pollici e ad un altro sportellino, che si apre premendo in due punti e attraverso il quale è possibile accedere al portaventole frontale, estraibile facilmente. Il case è tutto ricoperto di pannelli fonoassorbenti: nella parte frontale, dietro all'anta, ce n'è uno morbido. Gli altri morbidi si trovano nella parte superiore del case e nel pannello di sinistra, solo davanti ai fori per la ventola. In tutto il resto del pannello di sinistra e di destra sono presenti invece dei pannelli fonoassorbenti rigidi. I pannelli laterali sono fissati con delle viti nere svitabili a mano, e questi si estraggono tirandoli leggermente indietro e poi spingendoli verso l'esterno. All'interno del case troviamo tre ventole: una in basso, una nella parte posteriore e una nel portaventole anteriore. Rimanendo in tema il case è dotato di filtri per la polvere nella parte inferiore e sempre nel portaventole frontale. Il filtro inferiore si estrae da dietro semplicemente spingendolo verso il basso e tirandolo verso l'esterno. Aprendo il pannello frontale, si può notare a destra in alto un piccolo dip Switch con tre impostazioni: 5, 7 e 12V. Si tratta di un piccolo controller fan per 3 ventole. Il vano per l'alimentatore è studiato bene: sono presenti infatti due gommini alti 3 cm per tenerlo rialzato, così la ventola rimane distanziata dai fori del case e produce meno rumore. I vani per gli HDD sono fantastici: ce ne sono due da quattro dischi l'uno e ogni porta disco è in metallo bianco. Essi si inizialmente sono rivolti verso il pannello sinistro (da dove si accede al case) ma si possono girare verso la parte posteriore, togliere (con molta facilità) e si possono mettere entrambi in basso (uno al posto della ventola) oppure se ne può aggiungere uno, raggiungendo uno spazio totale di 12 dischi. Il pannello che sorregge la scheda madre è studiato bene: il foro in alto che da accesso alle staffe di fissaggio del dissipatore è molto ampio (non è cosa scontata, infatti nel mio vecchio HAF932 era molto piccolo e bisognava montare il dissipatore prima ancora di montare la scheda madre) e non ci sono problemi con il posizionamento delle viti o della maschera della scheda madre. Che altro dire, lo spazio tra il pannello per la Scheda madre e il pannello destro è molto ampio e non c'è nessun problema per il cable management, davvero molto comodo e spazioso; dispone anche di molti punti di ancoraggio per fissare i cavi con dei lacci.Assieme al case forniscono una scatola nera, delle dimensioni di due HDD circa, nella quale sono presenti molti sacchetti con moltissime viti, davvero tantissime e di tanti tipi. Non solo: ma sono presenti anche dei gommini forati da applicare ai dischi rigidi (i porta dischi ne sono già dotati) per ridurre le vibrazioni oppure si possono usare tra le staffe del dissipatore e la scheda madre, insomma sono molto utili; oppure è presente anche una vite che aggancia la vite a esagono che sorregge la scheda madre e la trasforma in una vite a X, molto comoda per chi non possiede un cacciavite con un innesto esagonale.Difetti?Forse qualcuno: i due jack frontali come accennato prima, sono un po duri e sembrano di bassa qualità, ma comunque funzionano. Poi ci sarebbe il peso, 16,4 Kg vuoto. Una volta riempito si arriva tranquillamente a 25 Kg. Per me non è un difetto, perché mi da un senso di stabilità e di robustezza, ma probabilmente è uno tra i case più pesanti in commercio, addirittura più pesante del corsair 800D e di certo non può essere considerato un pregio.Ad ogni modo è un case che merita di essere acquistato, anche perché vale molto di più di quel che costa e vale molto di più di altri case in commercio che costano anche il doppio.P.S. Quasi dimenticavo, le ventole in dotazione sono eccezionali: si può sentire solamente il flusso d'aria quando si impostano al massimo (con il dip Switch impostato su 12V quindi se lo si usa) e a 5V il case scompare letteralmente, diventa squisitamente silenzioso.

Hab den Tower Mittwoch als Ersatz für meinen viel zu lauten sharkoon vaya value bestellt, am nächsten Werktag (heute) war er dahabs ausgepackt und erstmal nur gedacht ... wow...riesigder innenraum und das kabelmanagement, exzellent, ich hab noch nie so ein aufgeräumtes, riesiges Gehäuse gesehen, unglaublichdann die kühlung ebenfalls exzellent, 3 lüfter sind vorinstalliert, alle mit staubfilter, 3 weitere lüfter sind installierbar, alle mit dämmplatten versehen um die lautstärke zu dämpfenim 12V betrieb nahezu unhörbar, im 7V oder 5V nichts mehr zu hören (der tower steht 50cm von mir entfernt)mal sehen wie laut das teil mit den 4 weiteren aufrüstbaren lüftern sein wird, die ich ebenfalls von fractal design kaufen werde,wie gesagt, ich bin hin und weg!genialer towersuper durchdachtes Kabelmanagementkurzum...genialbtw...verarbeitet wurden (MSI GTX 780 kommt morgen erst)Intel Core I7 4770KMSI Z87 G45 Gaming MainboardBeQuiet 550W Dark Power Pro 108GB G.Skill Sniper Series 1600 MHz RAM2 HDD1 DVD Brenner3 vorinstallierte Lüfter ink LüftersteuerungScythe Katana 4 CPU LüfterEdit:inzwischen auf 16GB RAM aufgerüstet, und GTX 780 von MSI dazu gekommenebenfalls habe ich alle Lüfter eingabaut die frei sind und zusätzlich mit NZXT Lüftersteuerung gesteuertAlso das interessanteste zuerst:auf 5V Betrieb höre ich den PC trotz Maxmimalausstattung mit Lüftern ÜBERHAUPT nicht, (selbst bei Ton aus und ohne Headset etc, meine ohnehin leise Razer Tastatur ist lauter xD)dennoch liegt die Kühlleistung bei 26° im Idle für die CPU und 23° bei der GPUunter Last kühlt mein Tower (immernoch bei 5V) die CPU auf 52° und die GraKa auf 65° runter! Beides sind M.E. absolute Topwerte für eine Luftkühlung.Unter Last bedeutet Watch Dogs bei Ultra Settings in FullHD bei 40-50fps ;-), von Benchmarks halte ich nichts, da diese m.E. lediglich Schw...vergleiche sind xDdie Temperaturen bei Spielen/Anwendungen interessieren mich mehr, da ich jedoch keine Anwendung habe, die aufwendiger ist als Watch Dogs ist für mich nur Watch Dogs hier ein Maßstab :-Pwenn ich nun auf 7V hochschalte höre ich den Tower ohne Ton fast nicht, er ist wirklich nur geringfügig lauter, und das 60cm von mir entfernt :-Pdie Temperaturen gehen nicht nennenswert genug runter, als dass ich die lüfter auf 7V hochdrehen wöllte, lieber ein lautloses system und 1°C mehr als ein nahezu lautloses und dafür 1°C kälter xDbei 12V nun ist der Luftstrom ohne Headset/Anlage deutlich hörbar, die Temperaturen gehen auch nicht genung runter als dass ich die lüfter auf 1300 umdrehungen quälen wöllte ;)sobald ich jedoch das Headset aufsetze/die Anlage einschalte höre ich auch bei 12 V nichts mehr von dem Towerund dazu der platz...die MSI GTX 780 mit immerhin stolzen 27cm Länge geht in dem Teil regelrecht unter oOselbst ein 3-Way-SLI/Crossfire System mit Überlangen Grafikkarten (bis 50cm) wäre vom platz her das geringste Problem (wohl eher dass mein Netzteil des nich packen würde xDD)Fazit:ABSOLUTE EmpfehlungEine solche Verarbeitungsqualität kombiniert mit einer solchen Größe und einem solch direkten Silent Konzept bekommt man selten für den Preis, ich wage zu bezweifeln, dass es auch nur einen anderen Tower mit diesem Preis/Leistungs-Verhältnis bekommt.Wer also einen Silenttower mit viel Platz und gutem Kühlsystem sucht, sollte entweder hier oder bei den Nachfolgern von diesem Tower zuschlagen.Einfach nur erste Sahne!
