A great resource for parents and children alike!
This is a great book and I wish resources like this had been available when I was going through puberty. It’s also an ideal resource for parents with children going through puberty as it helps gain a mutual understanding of some of the challenges involved. It walks the reader through some of the emotional changes you can expect, whilst giving practical advice on how to manage these. It clearly addresses all main issues from first periods, hormonal changes to developing healthy and supportive friendships. I’m impressed with the sensitive way the author addresses some to these difficult issues, whilst remaining factual and informative. I’d recommend this book to any girl approaching or going through puberty, but also to any parent that wishes to make the challenges their child is facing that little bit easier.

Not written for tweens in my opinion
Although this covers the basics of puberty, in my opinion, it wasn’t actually written ‘for’ tweens, more ‘about’ tweens. The author uses a lot of words that the average 8 year old wouldn’t have come across, with no effort to define them, or really explain it in simple terms. I’m all for my daughter knowing the real terms and science behind it, but basic knowledge needs to be formed first, and then that built on. This book doesn’t provide that basic knowledge.I also have a problem with the author repeatedly stating that a child becomes a woman/adult during puberty. While I understand the point being made, again, it hasn’t been written with a child reader in mind. My 8 yr old isn’t a ‘woman’ or ‘adult’ just because she’s started her period, and the way it’s written makes it easy for a child to misunderstand.I’ve returned and ordered a different book.

Highly Recommend
Becoming a teenage girl can be a very challenging and embarrassing age. Many topics that need to be understood are sometimes too awkward for girls to talk to their parents or teachers about, leaving many young ladies fact-finding with their friends of the same age, who are often unsure of the facts themselves. Reading a book like A Tween Girl's Guide to Puberty could be a game changer. They get to have all their questions about romantic feelings, body changes, mood swings, personal hygiene, and bra fitting answered without the embarrassment and risk of misinformation. The tone of the book is warm and friendly, easy to read, and includes images where appropriate. Definitely worth a read!

Good book for tweens
This book deals with the physical aspects of changes brought on by puberty, as well as the emotional and social changes, like friends growing apart, that may be experienced. It is written in a teen-centred way. A good read overall.

A lovely little book for tweens
I remember those days when I was embarrassed about everything and when my hormones were going through the roof. I didn’t know it then but I was just a tween. This book is reassuring, covers a lot of those issues and more. Goes in depth in all the right places and is at the same time teen friendly. A good effort.
