I think these shiny bangles do something to keep him away. We've only seen him land a couple of times at the ornamental pond, but he regularly dines in the two wild ponds on our property. I can't convict the heron since we haven't caught him red-handed, but we lost >50 gold fish to predators one winter so we had to do something.... The motion sensor sprinkler was unreliable and got us more wet than anything. The Heron decoy won't stay upright. The photo shows the important measurement of size, not including the clips. They're easy to twist as much as you like. I LOVE the fact they're stainless and sturdy! I ordered some reflective owls and they turned out to be plastic with a reflective film that peeled off after a short time outdoors.I strung these on 100# monofilament across the pond in 3 places with 2 on each string.
