Fans of the Fixed Trilogy - Do NOT miss this book!
Disclaimer: If you haven’t read the trilogy go and do that before reading this book or this review. This book won’t make any sense if you haven’t read the trilogy and this review might spoil things for you if you read it first.“Alayna Withers changed everything for me. I can easily divide my life into two parts – before her and after. The person I was in that time long ago and the person I became when my eyes first found hers. Though that isn’t entirely accurate. Before her, I never really lived. So there is only after. I begin and end with her. It’s as simple and profound as that. Our worlds have entwined and wrapped around each other’s completely. They’ve shaped into something new and fixed and whole. There is no longer her story or mine, but now and always, only ours.” – Hudson PierceThis book is a must read for fans of the Fixed Trilogy! I love dual POV’s in books and since this trilogy didn’t have that I was very excited to see this companion novel that allowed us to see things from Hudson’s POV! I was wondering how the author would fit a trilogy’s worth of events plus flashes back to “before” in just one book but I thought she did so beautifully. The “before” and “after” transitions were smooth and she hit upon most of the major events from the trilogy while still managing to fill us in on the other events with just a few sentences. It also helped that I had just finished the trilogy the day before (which I read in the span of 4 days) so it was still very fresh in my mind.I really liked the addition of the “before” chapters, I thought it was fascinating to learn about Hudson’s experiments and why he would do them and what he hoped to learn. It made me a bit sad too because his family really did a number on him and things could have been so different for him if his parents had just paid attention. But everything happens for a reason and if he’d had a different upbringing he probably would have never crossed paths with Alayna. Anyway, we got to see the why and how of his experiment with Celia and got the full picture of the aftermath of that which again was fascinating to read. There were also some really special scenes between Hudson and Mira and I loved her even more after this book! I liked how the “before” chapters were interspersed with the “after” chapters too, I was glad I didn’t have to wait until halfway through the book to get to the parts where he started seeing Alayna. As I mentioned, the “after” chapters were great and hit upon most of the major events spanning the whole trilogy. I could sense when I was reading the trilogy that Alayna affected Hudson much sooner and much more than he let on to her but it was awesome seeing in this book just how much she really got under his skin and made him second guess pretty much everything he thought he knew about human behavior and love. (“I’m breaking all my rules with this woman, acting outside my very nature. Maybe other men have survived her flames, but I fear I’m already burning.”) We got to see firsthand how even when he appeared aloof or unaffected he was really a sea of emotions inside, he just didn’t know how to process them.Even though I already knew what was going to happen I still felt every up and down and in some cases the pain and the happiness felt brand new because of the different perspective. This book also allowed us a look into some of the events that took place “off the pages” of the other books while Hudson was away from Alayna which was cool to see and we also learned a few new tidbits of information which were surprising and very interesting! And the epilogue, I LOVED the epilogue! I had to read it through the tears in my eyes, it was a perfect ending to this amazing series.I was very excited to see that the author is working on another book that will tell Gwen’s story before she came to the Sky Launch, I’ve already added it to my TBR list and maybe just maybe we’ll get to see a Hudson and Alayna appearance at some point in that book? A girl can hope anyway!

Good, but could have been better
Having fallen in love with the Fixed On You trilogy, I couldn't wait to read Hudson, a one off book told from the perspective of our flawed hero. I was so excited to read this book.I am someone who loves to read the story from the other perspective. To know what the other person is thinking, especially from the male point of view. Rarely do books ever tell it from the man's POV.And for the most part, I wasn't disappointed. I was so anxious to read Hudson's thinking in regards to some of his actions towards Alayna, his girlfriend. However, I was sad to see that most of the story, especially towards to end of the book, was sacrificed to tell the story of Hudson's youthful transgressions. Yes, I think it was important to learn what exactly it was that led Hudson to play the "game" with Celia, and what exactly transpired between the two to turn Celia so bitter.I do think this could have been accomplished in a few chapters, rather than almost half the book. It would have been better to read more of Hudson and Alayna's story, rather than his and Celia's. It was nice to learn more about his parents, and his relationship with his sister as well as having some of the story filled in on certain parts, like the parts after Hudson breaks up with Alayna and his mother's intervention. But the story skipped past so many vital parts that I felt let down by the end of the book. All in all, it's great, and there is a lot of the Fixed story covered in here, but not enough for my satisfaction. I wish Laurelin Page could have made this into a trilogy.

Hudson is amazing! Everything you need from a male POV
5 amazing, you will not be able to put this down, Hudson will make you swoon stars!"I can easily divide my life into two parts—before her and after.”Hudson is the best male POV ever to be told. Hands down the best I have ever read. I fell head over heels for Hudson in the Fixed series, but in this, I fell totally and completely in love with him.We met Alayna Withers and Hudson Pierce in the Fixed trilogy. For me it was a fresh story to the boy meets girls and falls in love story. Hudson Pierce was unlike any other man I had read about and I fell for him from the beginning. I rooted for them even as I cried for them, yelled at them and wanted to throw my eReader to the wall (or murder Celia, if I could). I ranted and raved, even as I continued on, because I wanted their HEA.As I was reading the trilogy, I kept thinking to myself, I would love to know what he was thinking at this part, or I wondered what drove him to do that. I was enthralled with every action he took, with every word he said and did not say. And then Laurelin Paige told us she was going to do just that, give us Hudson’s POV. Let me tell you, I imagined all sorts of scenarios and feelings and actions I thought Hudson should say and do, but what Laurelin Paige gave us was so much more. Here I must say that some of this are spoilers if you have not read the trilogy, but not for Hudson, as we know most of the story already. I loved the way the story was given to us. His past intertwined with Hudson and Alayna's present. It just made so much sense and gave us a side of Hudson we needed to see and understand. It was not an easy story to tell, but put Hudson in perspective to what he did to Alayna and why he kept it secret for so long. It did not make it right, but it made us see and understand and love him just a little more. Here I must interject on the story of Hudson and Celia. It really was not what I expected, but I somehow understood it. It was a necessary evil and showed Celia in an entire new light. I have so much to say here, but will not spoil it, but cannot wait to talk about it with others. I will say that if Hudson would have taken the time to see who and what Celia was to him, he might have changed a lot sooner than he did.Another side note, there was a part I wanted to fist pump Mirabelle. You will know what part I am talking about when you read it, but I wish I could have really done it! But ultimately for me, it was Hudson’s emerging emotions for Alayna that made this story for me. Being able to see him as he saw her, as he realized what she truly meant to him, what she could be, that just blew me away. I loved, loved when he ultimately realized that he did truly love her and why he did not tell her as soon as he did. It made sense. He knew he had to fix that one lie before he could truly give himself to her. The raw emotions and honesty we saw in his thoughts and in his fight for her were just wow, wow moments that blew me away. And the additional insight we saw in their relationship (that last chapter) and that epilogue, that alone was worth the read. I do not think I could express how much I loved this series and especially Hudson’s POV, but I truly and honestly did. I know I will reread this time and time again, and what better compliment can I give than that.So without a doubt, yes, I would recommend this book and series. Hudson alone is worth it. He will steal your heart away, I know he did mine.Happy reading

Love this book!
This series is a really great suspenseful series. And this book in particular I love because we finally get a POV from Hudson. This is one of my top 3 series. And Hudson was the very first love of my life. Written really well!

Hudson
Okay, first things first. Best.Male.Pov.Ever. I didn't think I could love Hudson more than I already did while reading The Fixed Trilogy but boy was I wrong. He is so sweet and romantic and so damn dominating. Its so hot!Knowing what he went through before and after Alayna made so much more sense with how he treated and acted towards Alayna in the previous books. There were times In this book when my stomach dropped, my heart hurt and I was almost in tears. I think that shows how well written this book is. You literally feel like you are Hudson Pierce and at times it was definitely gut wrenching.Im also glad we got to see how Celia became who she is/was. I still dislike her but I can see why she was acted and did the things she did.If you haven't read Hudson, you need to read it now! Laurelin Paige did this book right! I am SOO happy I wasn't disappointed.
