They even included a (cheep) screwdriver.This is exactly as described, it arrived as promised, appears to be well made, and a good value for the moneyI just wish they would put a packing slip in the package.This came in the manufacturers packaging 👍The packaging was plain brown cardboard 👍Limited or no plastic 👍No polystyrene foam (styrofoam) 👍👍

Too weak

Sharper than it looks, but could be longer. I bought it to relieve back strain, not encourage it. It wouldn't need to be lot longer, but some. Once you get a good rhythm down, it becomes easier to use. But a few extra inches would help. It doesn't need to be a classic mythological Death scythe, just a little longer.

My husband used it one time and the pole bent.Also it does not work like a sickle. Not worth the money!

If you work with a tool it will tell you what it can and can not do. If you want it to do something and it can't do the tool is not at fault.I am clearing a 1/2 mile trail so I understand what this sickle can do, sickles can cut brush at around 1/4 inch any larger and the stem just bends. It cuts Blackberry bushes perfectly and some thin stem scotch broom. It can cut tall grass if it stays sharp.The longer handle is nice because you can cut bushes farther away from your body which means you are safer.No matter what others have said this is a sturdy sickle. The sickle is very sharp so you must be careful. This sickle will perform as good as any sickle Amazon sells.I now have spent a few hours using it and I think it is great for brush clearing. The handle and blade is strudy and does not flex.The longer handle makes this a very useful tool.

Part of my disappointment is my fault...I did not read the information carefully enough. I was looking for scythe for a single project...removing some lily pads from one of my bass ponds. I wanted to cut them a couple of feet below the water, thought this would do the trick.It is not really solidly built...but for fair value for the money. It is much shorter than I thought...just a couple of feet. but the angle of the blade makes it ergonomically difficult to use. The blade points straight up, no curvature to the handle, so the only way to cut something like weeds is to hold the scythe low to the ground...virtually parallel to the ground, It might be good for trimming small shoots or branches of of a stalk. Definitely not the right tool for cutting weeds.

I do conceptually like the design of this guy. It's a comfortable length to trim into brush with some margin of safety from snakes and other varmints. It's somewhat elegant in design, too. It does feel a bit cheap, and would seep to be primarily composed of aluminum (not the blade, obviously). The main issues I had, perhaps a manufacturing error, but the grip has a knuckle guard on it, suggesting one way to hold it. The hardware with which to mount the blade on the shaft only goes one way. This left me with a blade at a weird perpendicular angle to my grip. I am not an expert here, but I thought the general of a scythe was to hack, which is rendered certainly unpleasantly difficult with these conflictingly angles. What I have worked out, however, is I can pull the blade back toward me and give weeds a nice haircut at the root while I hold them by the crowd. An odd tool that I have settled on, but it's got a purpose.

This sickle works well, when used properly and for an appropriate task!I know the product page says you can use it for heavy vegetation clearing and cutting tree branches/firewood/trunks, but I would avoid tasks that may require a heavy striking motion. It is NOT a scythe! It is NOT an axe! You CUT with it, you do not CHOP. The blade is oriented to work well for certain tasks, but will be useless and lead to damaging the sickle if used in the wrong way or for the wrong purpose. It is unfortunate that the product page uses misleading and inaccurate portrayals of what this tool is meant for.The blade is very sharp out of the package - I am not sure what kind of steel was used, but it seems to be of fairly decent quality. It makes an excellent "Japanese hand hoe" for clearing and prepping large or medium areas in raised garden beds with loose soil; it's great for selective weeding or harvesting; if you don't mind working on your knees it can be quite effective at cutting large patches of tall grass and knee-high weeds (again, this is not a scythe - you do not whip it like one, and if you do you may find yourself severely disappointed); YouTube is your friend when learning how to properly use a new tool). The product page indicates that the blade is replaceable, but i have not yet been able to find replacements so we shall see how long it lasts with proper honing and care before needing to be completely reground or thrown in the recycling bin.I do not care much for the ergonomics - I cut off the knuckle guard as it prevents left handed operation. I also straightened the shaft out as much as possible, as it also hinders left handed use. Even when using just my right hand I found the bend to not be particularly helpful - a tighter bend closer to the blade would have helped more if that's what they're going for, otherwise it's just an annoyance to me. If you're left handed, you'll want to modify this if you decide to purchase.Overall a decent sickle at a decent price.

Made clearing my ditch a breeze. Would like to know how to buy replacement blades for the future.
