Well made, substantial without being too heavy, and it hasn't got a pointed tip which means you can use it held vertically on a board without it damaging the board. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good quality, affordable honing rod from a reputable brand *by L***A on 7 November 2020* I have recently invested in some high quality knives, so with that comes learning how to sharpen them with a whetstone and honing rod. I chose this Victorinox honing rod as it's a reputable Swiss brand. The honing rod came well packaged, has a good weight to it and feels high quality. It has done the job of maintaining my knive blades so far. Honing rods are *not* for sharpening, as some people think. They are for maintaining the straightness of the blade and ever so slightly taking a bit of the blade off to keep it sharp, but you can't use it on its own to sharpen a blade. It'd be like trying to use very fine grit sandpaper to sand down a piece of wood, you'd be there forever. I use the honing rod every time or every few times I cook and it seems to keep my blades in good condition.
