Solid Build and Good Support
Just got our rower a couple days ago so I'll update this sometime down the road to comment more on the quality over time. However, initially impressions are that this is a solid, well built piece of equipment. The first one we received actually had a defect in the manufacturing and the wood was slightly bubbled and split on top where the belt idler pully was mounted. We contacted Amazon and it was picked up at our doorstep and returned. Unfortunately, we had to wait another 3 weeks but then got a brand new replacement at no charge. I found that the water pump did not work well and was taking far too long to fill the tank so I just free poured into the tank - it can be done ... carefully. Providing a funnel would be better than the plastic pump mechanism. The instructions could be more clear (they seem to be somewhat English vocabulary and grammar challenged) but they were easy enough to follow. A couple of things that would make the instructions a lot more functional: 1) it takes 6.5 gallons of water to fill the machine up to the calibration line (not in the literature anywhere so we didn't know how much distilled water to buy at first) and 2) we had no idea how much water clarifying powder was supplied with the machine or how much 1 gram was to add to the water tank so we bought a scale from Amazon to figure it out. Approx. 23 g of water powder was provided with the original purchase and, for anyone who doesn't have a scale, you can turn the water tank plug upside down and fill the empty cavity in the bottom to about 2/3 full. *** UPDATE *** We've had the rower for a year now and we've been using it every week (off and on) with no problems. We don't use the control panel that came with it - there are many apps out there for rowing so we use our phones instead. We did not stay on top of the regular maintenance like we should have so the water quality got bad. Not only did we not empty it and replace the water every 2-3 months, we didn't even make sure we put the algaecide powder in as recommended - I'm sure we're not the first to let this happen. So, today, I used the pump to empty the rower and I realize now that the pump does actually work - it's a bit tough to get it going and keep it going, especially when the rower water level is at the same height or lower than the bucket (see photo) but, with lots of hand pumping, I was able to almost completely empty the reservoir. I estimate that there was about 0.5 gal of slightly orange colored water left after I got everything out I could with the pump. I decided to try replacing "most" of the water and then adding a large does of algaecide to see if it cleans it up well enough and then I'll try to stay on top of it going forward. I thought this would be better than trying to move the machine outside and turn it upside down to empty it. I think keeping the water clean and clear is going to be a challenge and I might think about buying some chlorine and pH balancing chemicals to manage it like a hot tub but I'm sure most people will not want to do this. Then again, maybe the maintenance can be simplified to doing nothing at all - what does it really matter if the water gets a little cloudy and slightly orange colored?

My best purchase this year!
My rowing machine came in right on time within 2 days.Assembly is super easy. Comes with instructions and tools. Instructions are super clear, and the parts look and feel high quality too.The LCD screen is a convenient way to keep track of my statistics. There's a little rack below the screen for me to place my phone as I work out, so I can play workout guides or a show.I have been doing 30 minutes a day for the past month, and I couldn't be happier. I have definitely noticed some muscle gain, and I am much less out of breath than when I first started. Even if you are not watching anything, the rhythmic water sounds are also soothing to the ear. Being easy on the joints is another pro.I have a treadmill but had always wanted a rowing machine. I've heard about them and seen it in action in some movies. It is a great total body workout--strengthens most major muscle groups in arms, legs, core, and back. Awesome at cardiovascular health as well.I highly recommend this product. Honestly, I like it a lot more than a traditional treadmill, and it is easier to get into as well. PLUS, NO ELECTRICAL WIRES!!!

Beautiful but not perfect
It's a beautiful machine, super easy to put together. The only downside is finding a good resistance. It's not an fast process getting the water in and out and ultimately you're having to find one resistance you like and just extend how king you do it for.I prefer the ease of a fan resistance concept 2 but you get what you pay for

Your Search Stops Here - The Best Value Rower!
I spent days searching the internet and Amazon for the best rower for the money. I watched every YouTube video you can find on rowing machine comparisons. Quite simply, Hydrow seems to be the nicest and sleekest, but it didn’t fit my criteria for two reasons. The Hydrow, unlike the name implies, does not utilize water. It uses magnets which is the less common form of rowing resistance. You have the fan style such as the Concept 2 which is the staple of rowing machines, however, the fan is loud and did not fit my use case. You have magnetic resistance like the Hydrow, and you have liquid resistance such as this rower. While there’s nothing wrong with magnetic or fan resistance, nothing will get you as close to the real feeling of water resistance as… water. The harder you pull, the more resistance, that simple. Plus, you get the very soothing aspect of the sound of waves crashing in your home which is much more appealing than a loud fan when you workout next to your sleeping S.O.The other aspect of that Hydrow that did not fit my use case was the price. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Hydrow and if I had the budget I would no doubt go straight to that one and saved myself a lot of time spent searching… but if you don’t know if you’ll like rowing and you want to try it out and see if you’ll take it serious, or you just plain and simple don’t have nearly $3000 for exercise equipment, then you’ve come to the right place. This rower does not give you a large touch screen with instructor-led classes, nor does the built-in display even give you accurate metrics to be honest.. but it’s built solid and it looks nice. Best part is the price. Most rowers on Amazon are not designed to allow you to complete a full rowing motion, this one does. The sliding seat is comfortable, the handlebars are the right width, and it’s overall a well designed and built machine for the price. And if you really want those instructor classes, there’s a holder to prop up your phone and let you watch your own classes. YouTube is your best free option, but Apple now has rowing classes that utilize an Apple watch to track your metrics which helps overcome the inaccurate metrics of the on board computer.Your search ends here, this is the best Amazon rower!
