Romantic comedy starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, based on the non-fiction book 'Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman' by Jamie Reidy. Jamie (Gyllenhaal) is an ambitious and promiscuous pharmaceutical salesman who has always kept his emotions firmly in check as he uses his infallible charm to get his way in his job and in his encounters with women. But when he meets free-spirited artist Maggie (Hathaway), he is perplexed to find that his usual box of tricks has little effect. Before long he has become hopelessly infatuated with her, but there is a reason why she won't let him get close, as Jamie is about to discover. Review: Great Love Story - Brilliantly acted. Bit predictable, but well filmed enjoyable love story. Good entertainment and really worth the watch. Lots of messages in there if you really want to start looking. I loved it for what it was , certainly something you can watch and enjoy more than once. Highly Recommended Review: Love and Other Drugs - A fun watch but with some serious messages. It's a great watch if you love romantic comedies (I even got my boyfriend to watch it and he doesn't like chick flicks), but be aware that it has a downer in the middle section but it picks up again. It includes lots of nakedness and sex - so if you want to see either Jake Gyllenhaal or Anne Hathaway naked then this is for you. If you don't enjoy nakedness then stay away.

A wonderful movie about the reality of the human condition.
I saw this again today, after having seen it when it was first released; and, being a little older, and a little more world weary, made it even more poignant than the first time around. This isn't your average romcom; it's about us; we, as people whom often live our lives not really understanding or even seeing what our lives are really about, until someone shows you, you. The human condition is painful, and complex, and often the reality of it is hidden by the daily BS we wade through; unthinking and blind, but Maggie is one of those rare characters that can see right through it all. If this film doesn't make a person pause and think about thier life, and those less fortunate that are all around us, then I think there is something fundamentally wrong with them as a person. I feel pity for those reviewers whom only gave it 1 star "waiting for something to happen" because that's probably how thier lives are, and it's only at the end credits of their lives that they will realise, too late, what this film, and thier lives, was about.

OK, but a little lack-lustre near the end...
What starts off promising rom-com turns a bit lack-lustre near the end. Enjoyable, but also very heavy! Would recommend, but again make sure you're willing to go the 'long haul' to get to the end as most would get a little bored at places. Very funny in other places though thanks to Jake Gyllenhaal

A brilliant film to make people more aware of the problems some people have to suffer.
The film is brilliantly produced and directed, and acting of the whole cast, especially Make and Anne have responded to the director and made into a 10 star film. Enjoy.
