Apple iPod classic 160 GB Black - 7th Generation

There is a lot of choice when it comes down to portable devices for on the go entertainment, from basic storage / playback "boxes", through gadget rich touchscreens, to audiophile quality FIIO type mp3 players. I wanted a solid multimedia capable device with proven reliability and quality, which has a track record of surviving the rigorous commuter trip or longhaul flight, and with a battery which lasts the journey. In addition I needed a capacity which did not require a high level of selectivity when deciding which of my extensive music and video libraries to transfer to the device - an issue that I found increasingly frustrating with my previous 16GB Nano. This led to just one option - the 160GB IPOD Classic. Massive capacity (I just sync my entire library), long battery life, iconic design which I actually prefer to touch screen, colour screen, and still small enough to be incredibly portable with shirt pocket sizing. Provided you can live with apple software limitations I would have no hesitation in recommending the Classic as a must have accessory for reliable on the go multi-media.

The definitive iPod brought upto date. Im not a fan of the touchscreen iPods as I like to be able to skip tracks, pause etc without taking it out my pocket while walking the dog which is where this version shines. Unbeatable memory and battery lasts for absolutely ages. Way tougher than the touchscreen equivalents. I had an earlier version of this which survived daily dog walks, hikes, mountain bike rides, years of building work, drops galore including a few into puddles and the screen finally died when I caught it deadlifting 160kg...tough in other words. Meanwhile a gentle breeze has rendered several iPhone screens cracked of mine so far. I you want a music device that is simply that, buy this one! Great quality sounds, plenty of EQ options and decent earphones (although I can't get them to stay in my ears but thats just me).

My 2008 Classic, lovingly cared for, was recently stolen, and looking at the second-hand prices, I can see why. I wanted to replace it, but was wavering over various refurbished/used options, not sure about accuracy of the descriptions. Then, one of these came up as an Amazon warehouse deal, for a very reasonable price. Finally, all my audiobooks and music library, plus a couple of dialogue-heavy movies, are back in one place, with plenty of room to spare. On this version of the Classic, unlike on my old one, the EU volume limit can be switched off by those who like to play it loud (Firmware version 2.0.5). Sound quality is excellent - pre-dates Apple's succumbing to the bass-overloaded Beats sound culture - and apparently it's less prone to freezing than the pre-2009 Classics. Yay. There are some limitations: Video formats have to be SD, but on a screen so small, HD is pointless, so that's fine. Repeat and shuffle functions are still a bit out of the way, but findable. If you don't like click wheels, this ipod isn't for you. But for my money, this is one of the best combinations of form and function Apple achieved. Glad to have it back in my pocket.

Very pleased to be able to get one of the last Apple iPod Classic 160GB devices before they disappear. I already own a 4th generation iPod Classic 160GB and love the massive space it has for my vast music collection. I hadn't realised that the iPod Classic 7th generation had been discontinued and so began my quest to buy one as cheaply as possible. I looked on eBay and quickly realised that where they listed a 7th generation it was actually a 6th. Also I couldn't be sure that they were sealed or unused. So I decided that Amazon was my best option and I chose a site that was linked to the Amazon warehouse. I knew that I would pay more than on eBay but I was delighted with device which met my expectations. It was sealed and was indeed a 7th generation device. Compared with my 4th generation device, I am pleased that the wheel now moves more smoothly making it easier to select each tune. This sturdy device is the Rolls Royce of iPods, I am sorry that Apple is letting it go!

I was using a Creative 64GB touch (no longer made)..the bonus was it would take Micro SD cards...which I used a lot of, and there’s no software to install onto the computer. Got tired with the old system and wanted a new lager capacity portable player. I don’t use MP3, but rather M4A...lousy, and the player plays them well, if a little ‘base heavy’ for my liking, I’ve got the equalizer to enhance the treble...much better. Although the unit comes with ‘ear phones’ I’ve never managed to get any ‘ear buds’ to stay in, and I wasn’t holding out any hope with these, which was good because they also refused to stay in my ear. Don’t get me wrong, the headphones with this unit, are not a ‘push in your ear type’ (technical jargon) more a balance in your ear, well at least, that’s how it felt to me... I shall probably be adding the ‘FiiO E12 Mont Blanc Portable Headphone Amplifier’ to it in a few months...

Only really bought this as I have a lot of music and there was nothing else capable of storing the full amount of music. I know this was second hand but is sticks, jumps and needed to be restored twice before getting it to work. Very simple to use, but as with all Apple products you have to use Apple products - had to install iTunes to sync music up, which after the 3rd attempt, connected and synced very well. If you don't need 160GB then look for something else from a different brand. Otherwise for now I guess there is no real choice (well from what I could see anyway).

Questo oggetto rappresenta quel poco che rimane dell'era in cui Apple era un marchio devoto alla musica e non allo sfornare iPhone, iPad e gadget inutili vari ogni 6 mesi. Il design è quello storico dei primi iPod, ritoccato leggermente per restare attuale, il che vuol dire semplicità, bellezza e soprattutto solidità. La rotella tattile è comodissima ed in nessun momento si rimpiange la mancanza di un touch screen. Lo schermo è della giusta grandezza per godersi la musica, mentre per guardare un film risulta piccolo. Il cuore di questo lettore è la memoria interna da 160 GB che lo rende unico sul mercato e l'oggetto del desiderio di molti amanti musicali che esigono avere tutti i loro brani preferiti sempre con se. Pur avendo una libreria musicale molto vasta, credo sia molto difficile arrivare a riempire l'intera memoria del Clasic (film esclusi). Ultimo ma non meno importante, la batteria ha una durata molto lunga per quanto riguarda l'ascolto della sola musica, mentre si esaurisce più velocemente guardando film me soprattutto usando i giochi precaricati. In conclusione posso dirmi completamente soddisfatto dell'acquisto e consigliarlo a tutti come l'eccellenza dei lettori musicali: è prorpio un peccato che Apple abbia deciso di cessarne l'aggiornamento e la produzione!

iPod came in a day before arrival date, and in perfect working condition. My only problem was since this is an very old Mac product it is no longer compatible with my Microsoft computer. So you will need any type of Mac to sync the iPod into.

Aunque apple ha dejado de fabricarlo, el ipod classic ha sido la mejor opción para almacenar, gestionar y llevar encima horas y horas de música, y escucharla con una calidad más que aceptable. Una pena ya que actualmente no hay una alternativa con esta capacidad de almacenamiento (160 Gb).

El producto lo uso en su totalidad para lo que es. Escuchar música, Tener mis contactos privados, etc. Estoy muy contento con el iPod, es lo que esperaba.

Neuf comme prévu. Excellent rapport qualité/prix. Reçu dans les temps. C'est un vrai gâchis qu'Apple ait retiré cet ipod des chaînes de production. J'ai eu 2 ipods classics en plus de 10 ans et je n'ai jamais eu de problèmes. C'est un appareil solide et efficace. C'est d'ailleurs la raison la plus probable de de son retrait du marché pour nous vendre des iphones fragiles aux abonnements mirobolants. Je tiens également à souligner certains vendeurs non officiels qui n'hésitent pas à spéculer de manière scandaleuse sur ces objets. J'ai longtemps été écoeuré de voir ces pratiques sur internet avant de voir enfin une annonce raisonnable d'un vendeur.
