Very fast, quiet. This is the second one of these I have. On a NAS it outperforms SSDs due to the sustained read and write speeds. SSD to SSD usually drops (unless you have a very expensive type), this just keeps going. 80MB/s over GB ehternet doesn't sound fast, but it is. SMB Windows to Linux.

Working... but only after a very poor customer support experience told me to return it when it was probably working in the first place. On arrival... the disk only reported 1.4TB not 8TB. (NOTE: I used an external USB enclosure for a quick test) Windows disk management, Crystal Disk info, various partition management software all said they only saw 1.4TB. Even Seagates own native Seatools Windows diagnostic application said it was 1.4TB. I had an online chat with Seagates own customer support (more likely an automated dumb AI chatbot) and they said it was defective and to return it. I had provided screenshots of Windows disk manager, ran their own Seatools disk diagnostic etc. I got a replacement and the same thing occurred. Turns out, and Seagate support didn't tell me this.... as soon as I connected it via SATA to my target NAS drive (a HP Microserver Gen 8), it showed the full 8tb and was able to format it fully to EXT4. So... terrible customer support. I would expect an FAQ / troubleshooting guide available for every Seagate product and "seeing 1.4TB instead of 8tb" should've been a very easy diagnosis that you need to plug it into a real SATA port, not a USB enclosure. I installed the IronWolf Pro 8TB in my NAS and it’s been exactly what I wanted for always-on storage. Setup was painless, the drive was detected immediately, and it’s been running reliably under continuous use. Performance is strong for a 3.5" 7200 RPM NAS drive—file transfers feel snappy, rebuilds complete in a reasonable time, and it handles multi-user access and frequent reads/writes without bogging down. The fact that it’s CMR is a big plus if you’re using RAID or doing heavier write workloads, since it stays consistent and predictable compared to SMR drives. Noise and vibration are what I’d expect from a higher-performance NAS disk: not obnoxious, but you’ll know it’s a 7200 RPM drive if your NAS sits right next to you. Temperatures have been fine with normal airflow. Overall, if you want a dependable, higher-end NAS drive with good sustained performance and CMR reliability, the IronWolf Pro 8TB is a solid buy.

Value for money

This is a massive hard drive for any data storage you might need, there is a small amount of noise level when in use but it's so minimal it's not worth talking about, easy to install and connect and is very compatible, will be purchasing 2 more.

Package arrived early. No issues with it. Used this to upgrade my parity disk in Unraid

So far so good. 775€ was a good price for 24tb. Now they are way to expensive. It fits good in my ugreen Ai nas idx6011 but need more disk soon 😜😋

CONTRO: Prezzo superiore ai drive consumer; leggermente più udibile rispetto ai modelli a 5400 RPM (normale per un drive Enterprise). 💡 CONSIGLIO TECNICO Appena arrivato, consiglio sempre un test completo della superficie (Extended Smart Test) prima di inserirlo nel volume RAID. La confezione FFP (Frustration-Free Packaging) di Amazon è ottima: il disco è arrivato sospeso in una struttura di plastica rigida e cartone, protetto perfettamente dagli urti del corriere. GIUDIZIO FINALE: È il "Gold Standard" per chiunque prenda sul serio i propri dati. Che sia per un server multimediale Plex o per backup aziendali, l'IronWolf Pro è una garanzia di continuità operativa.

The hard drive failed as soon as I tried to format it. It also made a clicking noise, which makes me think it may have been dropped or damaged before I received it. It may have been badly damaged during transport, but I don't know for certain, that's just my guess based on the clicking sound and the fact that it wouldn't work. I will not buy another hard drive from Amazon again. This is why I hesitated before writing this review, but I wanted to share my experience so other buyers are aware.
