Seachem De Nitrate Remover, 100 ml

I've always had problems with nitrates in my tank. It's not overly huge and seems to build quickly regardless of regular maintenance etc.My water change routine was getting pretty drastic in order to keep on top of them to the tune of over 60٪ once a week.Not ideal!Having checked all possible causes and still getting nowhere I decided that building a nitrate reactor was the way to go.It's been a week since my last water change and since the nitrate reactor went into operation using this product.Based on past experiences, a week down the line, my nitrates should be well over 40ppm by now.They're not.A test this morning reveals the nitrates are somewhere between 10 and 20ppm.The reactor is still maturing but already its had a significant effect on the water.This product works, no two ways about it.It is very picky however. It requires a specific flow of water in order for it to do its job.One should bear in mind when purchasing that this product doesn't remove nitrates on its own. It merely serves as a home for the bacteria that do, and if one doesn't create the ideal condition for that bacteria to grow then all you'll have is a reactor full of small porous stones.If the flow is too high or too low, it won't work. If it gets too cold or hot, it won't work.To set up mine I overdosed the reactor with Seachem Stability both before it was installed and continued adding 10ml daily afterwards into the water near the reactor intake for seven days.I created a water flow through the reactor of approximately 128L/h which is around 33GPH (US) above Seachem's recommended minimum flow.I'm still a beginner in the world of fish keeping. But with proper research I got this product to do its job on my first attempt.I must say that if it doesn't work for you, then you've done something wrong.

Takes a while to process in the water

My nitrate levels spiked.I put this in the filter and around 3 days later the levels dropped to virtually no nitrates in the tank.I would recommend

Highly recommend this product it's fantastic, tried for over 6 months andnothing or any product would get my nitrates down. Used this 1st time and within a weekAfter placing in my filter my nitrates returned to normal. Buy this you won't beDisappointed 5 star product.

Purchase to try lower the nitrate levels in my tropical fish tank, so far it’s lowered them slightly but not completely removed

As usual great standard of product as you would expect for the brand. Reason for purchasing from Amazon is the price is the best for value and also the fast delivery.

My nitrate levels in both of my pico reef tanks were at 80 ppm, I got this product 2 days before writing this review and now their levels are at zero ppm. It worked much faster than I expected which was 1 to 2 weeks minimum. I will continue using this product in unison when I get my algae tuff scrubber. Which is on order now. Then I can stock both tanks with various SPS frags from my main tank.

I have always struggled with ammonia and nitrates in my goldfish tank. Bought a second filter to run this through and haven’t had an issue since, fantastic product.

I use this regularly in my saltwater reef aquarium it really does help keep nitrates in check. Needless to say it doesn’t replace the need for water changes that’s a must for any hobbyist
