Children love this activity!
I buy multiple of these each school year! Students love this activity. They like to compare their gemstones with each other and read the history behind them. After they find their gemstone I'll give them a few minutes to look up their gemstone on their ipad and read about it. I also take it a step further and use this activity so students can practice their patience as it can take awhile to find their gemstone. I also use this activity so students can practice following directions (ie. step one, step two etc. to find their gemstone). Another thing that I do is give them a little baggie so they look for rocks and begin their own rock collections. There are multiple things you can do with this activity.

Great fun, but the toys are really small
Kids had a lot of fun excavating for unicorns/fairies, but the toy was really small compared to how big the initial lump was.

wish the prizes were better
This was an alright product. Kept the kids busy and I appreciate there are tools for each dig. This helped since I have 3 kids and it kept them from fighting over the tools. I also liked that there were so many eggs included. The prizes were just ok so it's a good starter kit. there are nicer ones out there, but for smaller kids this was good.

Appalled
My kids have loved playing with these but I’m appalled at the art on the outside of the package. This was a gift to my niece and the picture with the mermaid is different than what was advertised. Pasties on a mermaid for a young girls toy is absolutely unnecessary… I am Disgusted.
