Clean Audio From Mackie
I own a Sennheiser MKH 416 shotgun microphone. I use it for my YouTube ads and fictional films. The MKH 416 requires an XLR phantom power supply. After researching Amazon, I found that the Mackie had excellent reviews. I used the M48 recently on two ads. The sound is very clear and robust. Because it's lightweight, it was easy to carry with my camera, tripod and shotgun mic. Make sure that you have a spare 9-volt battery or two when using the M48. The battery Mackie supplied died after about two hours of use. The M48 is wonderful to use.

Works flawlessly feeding mic inline boosters
My application: SM57 -> Radial McBoost -> Mackie M48 phantom power -> from there i do passive split (Radial ProMs2) and feed 3 different analog mic preamps of my choice. i get Impecable sound, very low noise (compared to cranking the preamp alone) Finally although my audio interface has phantom power built in (according to specs), in practice it was inconsistent when feeding my booster, or condenser microphones, i perceived crackling and artifacts when the phantom power from my audio interface was engaged. With this Mackie p48 this noises are gone, i can get pristine audio.

48V phantom power that works as expected.
The Mackie 48V phantom power supply does what it says it does and is cheaper than a lot of other options. It includes a wall adapter, but can also run for several hours off a 9 Volt battery. It also seems like it's fairly durable, so if you drop it or step on it, it will likely survive. The main downside of this unit when compared to others is that it's larger than some others and only offers power for one mic, where others of the same size can power two. And not being inline will require one extra XLR cable, however that is still much cheaper than the inline Sennheiser phantom power supplies.

Power up!
I have been using Mackie products for the past couple of years. Usually, I am quite happy with the quality of the product. However, the M48 is just missing....something...for it to be truly high quality...maybe it was just the weight. I'm not sure. Regardless, the M48 does the job quite well that it sets out to do. Powering my Phantom Powered microphones was easy and didn't cause any noise or interference with it. This was a good solution to go from a high-quality phantom microphone to XLR-USB, for when I'm on the go and can't bring my whole amplifier set up. Overall, if you want clean power to your phantom powered equipment this will work. Reasonably priced for a piece of gear that SHOULD last you a while. Mackie hasn't disappointed me yet.

Great quality and features
I love not having to carry batteries. It also has all the features I want and need. It has the Mackie name and the build quality feels solid. I feel like it is overpriced by about $20 and that is my only real criticism. The sound quality is good and the silent operation. What I would expect from Mackie.

Perfect for phantom power

This is the kind of quality and affordability that I come to expect from Mackie. And the fact that I have the choice of running it off a 9 V battery, as opposed to the supplied adapter, itโs portability is handy.

I was pleasantly surprised by the build quality of this, especially for the price I paid. Frankly I wish it was a bit smaller, but I can't knock off marks for that since it's the exact size it says. This lets me run a dynamic mic into an in-line pre-amp (Fethead, Cloudlifter, MartiAudio Booster, etc), so my SM58 sounds gorgeous going into channel 2 of my AG06 (the one without phantom power). I use this for my 'guest mic', which is a stage mic. This means my secondary mic can take a beating, is hand-held, can be tossed in a box when not in use, but still sounds fantastic.
