I have purchased and returned a few closet rods because they were not sturdy, or had plastic that was not ideal. This item is solid stainless steel. It screws together so it will not collapse like the others do. There are still a few things that still bother me. There is no hook for you to hang it on the closet rod, and it is too long or too short because it screws together. For me its too long and needs to be 6 inches shorter. Since I cannot hang it when it is not it use, it leans against the lower bar on an angle touching the floor. Because of these issues it loses one star.

We have been renovating, which involves a lot of relocating items, but still keeping them in our home. There is not a ton of space. Hence, the cause of the renovating. Cleaning out the closets wasn't the hardest, but it was taking more time than I had planned. Carrying hangers of heavy clothes that dig into my fingers is painful, and time consuming. I needed a way to speed the task up, or at least, make it less painful to do. This extension rod has already saved me so much time. I can scoop up a group of hangers with the clothes still on them, carry them into the next room, and put them back on the closet rod without hurting my hands. This rod has little prongs on the end that are able to reach under the hooks of the hangers while they are still hanging on the closet rod. The long rod gives me the leverage to lift them up at the right angle. Then I just carry the rod with the clothes hanging on it to the next room, tilt it forward over that closet rod, and pull it back. Now I will say that every five trips or so, I have dropped one or two articles of clothing while putting them in the other closet, but that's nothing compared to what I was dealing with before. This extension rod is strong, and it's not heavy. The prongs on the end are strong, and have great hold. Assembling the rod was really simple. It comes in four pieces, but they only go together one way so you can't do it wrong. The pieces only attach to the pieces they are supposed to. They don't fit together any other way. So it's impossible to assemble it incorrectly. This is my kind of product! It's a true time saver from the very beginning. I didn't have to figure out how to put it together, or how to use it. It pretty much did that for me. That's the way products should be! This extension rod does what it was made to do, and it does it well.

This tool has been great, lightweight and sturdy, but my biggest concern is that mine had a jagged edge from what I'm guessing is the mold. Since it's aluminum, I needed to use an angle grinder to get rid of it.
