A Fun Idea Let Down In A Few Areas
Dpofirs Taxidermy Chicken Egg Lamp, Chicken Lamp Funny Chicken Laying Egg Light Lifelike Resin LED Hen Egg Lamp Cute Kids Night Light for Bedroom Living Room.Sometimes you see things on Amazon that you never knew about but immediately want them. This chicken lamp was one of those things. I never even knew chicken lamps existed but I saw it advertised, it looked ludicrous, it made me laugh so I had to have it.Sadly, upon arrival that anticipation of owning a novelty chicken lamp soon turned to slight disappointment.Firstly, it looked bigger in the ad and is actually quite small.. and very lightweight. It's just a moulded plastic chicken with what looks like hand painted highlight areas. It doesn't look awful, just not great quality. The base the chicken stands on is painted silver for some reason, but it looks like it's been broken, stuck back together then hastily covered up with a quick coat of acrylic paint to try and hide the damage. The novelty of this chicken lamp is the positioning of the small, egg-like bulb which looks like the hen is laying. It's an amusing idea but the bulb is fixed and can't be replaced plus it isn't very bright. It may do as a particularly dull night light at a push, but that's about it.Power is obtained by the rather short USB lead, which for some reason attaches just below the egg bulb. It's quite obtrusive and would have looked way better of attached to the base, but I guess that would have involved extra effort for a cheap novelty lamp.Ok, this chicken lamp is still an unusual and fun novelty but the quality and attention to detail leaves a bit to be desired. It's just little things that let it down from being that silly looking thing you know you wanted but must have in your life.Price wise, this particular one is on the high side. The exact same model can be had from other sellers for a much lower price. If it was around a tenner then you could forgive the shoddy paint job and other slight niggles.
