Reliable & fast contact sensor trigger w/thread
I've got HomePod Minis and Eve Energy devices so I'm using the Eve Door & Window with thread. They come with plenty of spacers to adjust the non-battery powered passive part of the contact sensor. So depending on your door or whatever, most people should find a way to make these work. The battery cover is hard to install and feels like you're forcing it on -- so I'm concerned that battery replacement might be frustrating. So try to be sure there's a way to remove the active sensor from the battery door, which is done by sliding away the sensor body. Those are the only negative things I can say about these devices.Importantly, the both my Window and Door contact sensors already had the new Thread firmware (purchased in July 2021). So I did not need to upgrade their firmware. At first when I added an Eve contact sensor, it didn't trigger automations reliably. So I rebooted all my Eve Energy and HomePod devices. Since then they've been working flawlessly, every time, and near instantly. I have one contact sensor that turns on the hallway lights when the closet doors are opened, and turns them off when closed. I have another sensor on a slider that we only open up to let fresh air in. So I set up an automation to put our Ecobee into away mode to keep the AC or heat from turning on when we have the windows open. They've been extremely fast, triggering within a second of opening or closing. By using the Eve app I can see that so far these contact sensor Thread end-points are relaying their activity to an Eve Energy thread router that is about 30-40 feet away with several walls. That's impressive range and I'm surprised they're not routing through closer HomePod Minis or NanoLeaf Essentials bulbs. I plan on buying more of these devices soon as I can think of more practical, life improving things to do with them :-)

Reliable and connects to Apple Home just great
Great for my side gate so I can see if anyone enters my yard while away. Also I have it connected to Apple Home and it plays a siren sound through my HomePods if gate opened while I am home to alert me.

Didn't work with Apple TV matter hub
Would not stay connected using Apple TV HD (wired) as a matter hub. Even in close proximity. These were supposed to be rick solid according to reviews, but there as a lot of work still to be done on these. Setup was a nightmare. And they never configured correctly.I have plenty of matter devices that work fine, but these just stunk.

Best Thread Sensor Available (for now)
[Update] Since I wrote this, I have purchased a few more. I have actually removed one of the gripes I had in my earlier review because I figured out that I needed to read the instructions.:-). That said, one thing to look out for: some earlier versions of this come “HomeKit compatible” and not “Thread/Matter” compatible out of the box. When you install it, it gives you the option to upgrade to Matter support, but then the QR code changes. Unfortunately you only find out which one you have once it’s on your network. It’s not a big deal, but if you ever have to set it up again, the QR code on the sensor won’t be the one you need to use to set it up again. If you update it, make sure to save that QR code [/Update]First off, let me get this out of the way. If you want a Threat-based window/door sensor, this is the only one you should be looking at. There aren't a lot of other choices, but this is the only one I have found that continues working after 24 hours (I won't name names, but the other ones know who they are). Of course, check the date of this review, as things may get better but for now, don't waste your time with anybody else.I was extremely happy to see how well integrated this was with HomeKit. Once I connected the sensor to my HomeKit network, I saw that there was an update ready and it immediately started downloading and installed without any action from me. This is how these devices should work.I have always heard that Eve's products were well designed, but I had always shied away from them because they weren't always the least expensive option. That said, this has been a very good experience for me, and I will buy more of these sensors as soon as I get the warm fuzzy that it will stay working after a week. (Being on the bleeding edge of Thread is not without its frustrations.)

Great smart contact sensor from Eve
The Eve Door & Window sensor is another great product from Eve. Setup with Matter is very easy. I am using this as part of my Apple HomeKit home. All I have to do is scan the QR code on the product and my phone automatically connects to the sensor and adds it to my home. I setup my sensors as a door sensor to check if the front door to my house is closed. You can also add automations like turning on a closet light when the door is open. Additionally, with Matter support this Eve product now works with Alexa and Google Home! I am very impressed by the ease of setup and responsiveness of this product and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a smart home contact sensor.
