The sound quality is honestly better than I expected for the cost, and is a substantial improvement over recording using the iPhone's built-in microphones.Setup could not be easier – there are no apps to install, no pairing process, just plug in the wireless receiver to the iPhone's lightning port and turn on one or both mics, and you're ready to record. The process was so effortless, I actually had to double-check that it was actually recording from the lav mics…I'm not accustomed to recording setups just working like that, haha, but the sound quality difference when recording myself even from an arm's length away with the transmitter connected vs not (i.e., using the built-in mics) was immediately obvious. Given the sound quality and convenience, I'll definitely be using these mics for conference calls on my phone whenever I have this mic kit around.I really appreciated that they designed the receiver to have a bit of extra length for the lightning connector so that it could clear my phone's case. I use a Quad Lock case, so it's neither than thinnest nor the thickest case out there, so I can't promise that it'll work with 100% of the phone cases on the market, but it's basically a perfect fit with mine, which is not something I can say about plenty of other iPhone lightning port accessories. This is a huge plus for me, as the likelihood of me actually using the product regularly is so much higher when I don't need to remove my case to use it.The sound quality is great, and doesn't leave me wanting for any sort of recording I'd be using my phone for. The sound is full-bodied and it does a good just with its automatic gain adjustment.Since it uses the standard iOS auxiliary audio input, it should work with any application that records audio. I tried it with built-in apps like Camera and Voice Memos, as well as some 3ʳᵈ-party apps like Filmic Pro, and it worked in all of them.The built-in noise-reduction feature works pretty well, certainly on par with similar features on gaming headsets and the like, and I could see it being useful if you're trying to have a call with someone in a very noisy environment, but it does result in some degradation in sound quality (which would make sense since it's presumably attenuating noisy frequencies), so if I'm recording a video or audio, rather than using it for real-time communications, I'd keep it off and stick with the inherent noise reduction that comes from having the microphone so close to the subject along with the dead cat for wind noise reduction, and apply a higher-quality, non-real-time noise reduction algorithm in post. But realistically, I'm pickier than most, and 99% of people out there would be more than satisfied with the built-in noise reduction and saving themselves the extra effort.Overall, the product performs well across the board and is very convenient to use, and at the current price point, it's a no-brainer for anyone in the market for a lav mic kit for their iPhone. I've definitely paid a lot more for comparable quality and a lot less convenience in the past, haha – it is impressive how far technology has come!

My main concern was seeing what was the best option that would break the bank. Queue the Rythflo images.What's in the box?You get two wireless mics, one dongle, a USB-C, mic covers to help against the wind, and a user instructions manual. All these items come in a small portable case that fits in a pocket without taking much space.Is the set-up process easy?Yes! It can't be any easier. All you have to do is connect the dongle to your iPhone, turn on one or both mics, and you are set to go.What apps can you use this with?I could imagine that you can use not only the native Apple apps, but you could also use this with other apps. Personally, I have used this for the camera app for video creation and for some voice memos.How is the sound quality?In one word, superb. The sound quality is clear and crisp. As for the noise cancellation, I live next to a highway, so I know what it is like to have car noises day in and day out. This set of mics have done an impressive job of cancellation the car noises out. Additionally, to test the sound out, I locked myself in a different room with a window AC unit that tends to make a lot of noise itself and these mics reduced the noise greatly.Is the video on par with the sound?What do I mean by this? I mean that if the sound follows the same speed as your mouth. Meaning that there isn't a delay between your action of speaking the video and your words that are heard.How far have I been from my phone when using this?I started testing different distances, all the way from 3 feet up to 15 feet. It may seem like a small amount, but for my specific use case it is more than sufficient.Are the mics heavy?No, not at all. They are lightweight and after a few minutes you even forget that they are there.Finally, the price.This didn't break the bank.
