Yes. I use the digital imager. Works great.

Q: I am buying this for my 7 year old grandson. is it a good choice for this age child?

I bought this microscope for myself, and it has performed as expected since 2009. If I'd had one like it when I was 7, I'd have considered myself unbelievably blessed. Hardly anyone needs more magnification. I use it to check for Demodex on dogs and to look for Giardia cysts in water samples.

Q: Where can I buy extra lens for it? Kids lost them

I think you have to order them directly from the manufacturer from Celestron. Look up Celestron on a search engine to find the company website and you can either order online or call them directly. I'm pretty sure they sell parts.

Q: Are you able to view 3D objects, for example a coin?

Yes. Higher magnification is unneeded except for translucent objects upon which you can use the fine focus to step through them from top to bottom.
