Convenience and Function, hand-in-hand
After recently buying an older home, it needed some updating to replace the original 1950s Leviton switches. It was only fitting to put the best and newest switches in their place. These Decora Edge switches make installing a breeze. The lever terminals are super convenient for setting your wiring in and pushing the lever shut. No more wrapping the wire carefully around a screw and tightening it. The added convenience of having a strip gauge takes the guess work out of how much wire you'll need for your connections. Additionally, these switches are very quiet and switch very smoothly with minimal sound. That's a stark contrast to the original switches which made a significant snap sound each time they were used. The marketing pictures show 'Push, Click, Done' and it's truly as simple as that. I'm by no means an electrician, but these switches made the install much easier and gave me more peace of mind. They also look fantastic with the screwless faceplates. I would highly recommend these switches.

No Screws!
Finally, after many years, Leviton has created the snap in clamp for wiring the device. Strip the wire insulation, lift the tab and insert the wire. Then close the tab and it's a 'fait accompli' in a couple of seconds. You will find yourself asking "why didn't they have this feature 20 years ago?" The wire is secure and you can lift the tab and remove the wire very easily.

Super easy install
Easily replaced existing light switch. No screw terminals even better, no exposed wiring to have to wrap with electrical tape. Highly recommend.

Not sure how much of an improvement these are over regular connection switches
We have Leviton brand switches and plugs all over the house. No issues with them. I'm not sure how much easier these really are than the normal switches. Still,Leviton makes a fantastic product so I'm sure these will be no different. Installation was easy but maybe not easy enough to justify the new product.

Good for its intended usage
Here are some problems I find with the switches:1. The electrical connection is not as good as brass blocks that tighten down on a straight wire, or the old fashioned wrap around connections.2. The ground makes several assumptions, which in extreme cases may not be true.3. The switch action makes a noise.4. The switch action feels cheap (I'm not sure how long it will last). My own response to these problems:1. These are much better than the old easy to wire "stab through" connections that would often fail with age. A lot of testing has been done on these types of connections and they can easily handle 15 amps reliably and for long periods of time. They are not as good other "professional" connections but these other connections are basically overkill for a typical homeowner. (I would happily use this for any lighting circuit, especially now as most LED lighting systems are way under 15 amps.)2. The extreme cases are so extreme, again the typical homeowner will never see this.3. There is no good response to the noise issue. These are not silent. I would not use these in a bedroom or adjacent bathroom.4. On the cheapness issue, I would not use these in a nice home, in an important area such as the kitchen, main hallway, etc. But in a lesser used basement room of the same nice home, sure. As to the longevity issue, my only response is that I use Leviton products a lot and have had good results. I hope this product continues that experience.
