Nice tool for the price!
After struggling in cold weather with my last oil change in my truck, I sought this tool out before I totally destroy my hands!! Those with an F150 with the 5.4 Triton 3v know where that oil filter lives makes it difficult to remove with the conventional strap type wrench. I am able to stretch my arm up in there, but trying to grip and twist it loose by hand is getting harder to do each time I need to. Looked at several of this type, and for the price, figured this was the hot setup. It arrived, and upon inspection, noticed the spring orientation and how other's were having problems with it coming detatched. I easily modified the spring at each end with some needlenose pliers, bending the hook shape slightly to now have a 90° retainer under the hole to prevent unwanted detachment. I checked this tool for fitment on the Motorcraft fl80s filter on my shelf slated for my next oil change, fits and grips perfectly, I'm very pleased with this new tool, just have to wait till my next oil change to deal the deal.

Great for 04-08 5.4L F150
I've owned my 2006 F150 since new and have dreaded oil changes since the beginning because of the contortion required to remove the oil filter. . I had to hammer a screwdriver through the first one because I didn't have the Ford wrench and couldn't get it off w/ a strapwrench or a belt and I'd already drained the oil. If you own one and have done an oil change, you know what I'm talking about. This thing worked fantastic. I used a long reach extension and popped the filter loose without any trouble. I just wish I had bought this years ago.

Great Little Tool, Watch the Spring Though
This is a great tool for aiding in stubborn oil filter removal. Basically, its a set of jaws that clamps onto an oil filter, and using a 3/8 breaker bar or ratchet, allows you to torque the filter off easier than by hand. Its only used for removal, don't try to use it for install. The one complaint I had was the spring that came with the tool that holds the jaws shut. The spring flew out when i opened and closed the tool to test it, nearly poking my eye out. Not sure if its a common problem, but after fiddling with the spring, i gave up. I ended up replacing it with a couple keychain hooks and some elastic bands. I added enough bands to keep good tension and eliminate the risk of flying springs.I will upload a picture of what I did.Just as a note, this fits larger oil filters. There is a smaller filter wrench that works with standard car sized filters. I'd suggest getting both and replacing the spring on both. Both work great adn don't slip. Saves time and effort.

saved the day
Stuck filter on a 2002 Silverado 2500 HD. Filter in a really tough spot with very little access. I tried everything else but the lack of access and clearance didn't help. Finally bought and used this. I first used needle-nose pliers to turn the ends of the spring to help prevent it from coming off, it seemed like it helped. It took me a few minutes to get the filter tool in position on the filter due to the limited access but I got it on and the spring kept it on. I then tried to use an impact wrench on it which only ended up making a small hole in the filter dripping oil into my eye. Then I tried a breaker bar and it came right off. Don't hesitate, buy this now. It's really a tool you can pass onto your grandkids but the spring will likely not last and need to be replaced with a rubber band or something.

Best filter wrench ever!!
This is the best filter wrench bar none. I have tossed all my other wrenches. No slip, pure grip!! My neighbors keep borrowing my new wrench it works so well and easy. I had to use hammers and chisels to get some filters off. Some crushed so bad. No More!! Love this wrench!! Wish I had known of these years ago before. Highly Recommend !!!!!

IT REALLY WORKS, AND WORKS REALLY WELL.
The AutoPartStore best was a stainless steel strap about 1/32 inch thick and 2 inches wide. It worked well for years. But I recently had to take off a 3-1/2" diameter spinon filter. I really cranked down on the breaker bar, 1/2" drive, 12" long. The strap welds broke. There had to be something stronger. I found it on Amazon. I was not disappointed. This item has 1/8" thick steel that won't give. It has minimal slop between parts. Lying on the ground aiming up there is not much room to move. I found a position, and gave it all I had. The sides squeezed and bit into the filter, and it budged a little. After resetting it and budging it 3 or 4 times, it finally loosened. That sure made me glad. Later I looked at it real close. It says "MADE IN USA". That made me feel good. That is what I would expect from Made in USA.

A Great Oil Filter Wrench
I purchased this wrench and the similar Lisle Import Oil Filter wrench (for smaller filters). I can report that they are both well made, and they both work really well at removing stuck-on oil filters where you only have an "end view" of the filter. Here are some specific likes:1) The two jaws, each with two biting "teeth", grip the filters tightly. I put my "three finger" style wrenches (which don't grip nearly as well)into the recycling bin after using this wrench for the first time.2) The jaws are spring loaded, which holds the wrench in place on the filter while you get in position to turn the ratchet. A nice feature.3) The harder you turn, the tighter it grips. You may dent the end of the filter a little, but the filter will break free.4) Between the two wrenches, they cover every size from small lawn tractor filters up through automotive and truck (F350 etc)filters. You don't need a large collection of "cup style" filters. I put a few of these in the recycling bin as well after using this wrench for the first time.Lisle has solved the oil filter removal issue with these wrenches.

Don't purchase if you have a smaller filter
I purchased this thinking that it would be a suitable replacement for a plastic cup-type removal tool that had stripped over time. Boy, was I wrong. It doesn't fit the filter on my truck (04 Nissan Frontier, 3.3L)... Too large.I should have double-checked the specs rather than going with the "fits most filters" line. Double-check the size of your filter to compare prior to purchasing. At least it didn't cost a fortune and appears to be solidly made.

The best oil filter removal tool for spin on filters period
Obviously you'll need a 3/8" ratchet and possibly an extension, but beyond that this tool is perfect. Grabs onto oil filters better than any other tool, better than the three prong claw, better than pliers, better than a strap remover, even better than the same design of tool from fram. The coating Lisle uses will grip oil filters even when the filter is soaked in oil, the metal has no flex, and they gave the jaws plenty of surface area to grab with. Would recommend this over any other oil filter tool on the market for use with spin on filters. My only caution is to be very careful when removing from the packaging since they cover it in vacuum sealed plastic and somehow it wraps around the spring that retracts the claws, as a result I did stretch the spring a bit removing it from the packaging. However the tool is still usable and still performs better than anything else, even with a loose spring!

Works as advertised
Most of Lisle products are good this filter wrench works as advertised. I have a Dodge 2500 4X4 and the oil filter is difficult to access from the side because it is partially blocked and from the bottom of the truck it is a ways up to reach the filter. To replace the filter I access from under the truck using a long 3/8 extension with the tool to reach the filter it works fine.

Great!
I actually bought the wrong size of this wrench. This is the bigger one only works for the larger "PH" oil filters. However when I do need to use it it performs flawlessly. 100% Recommend if you work on trucks and larger vehicles.
