Q: Do this unit require a flow switch?

Yes. It is included with this product. It is 2" dia., and includes 1.5" dia. bushings/adapters, which I used for my installation. It has a small gauge cable that plugs into the bottom of the control panel. My salt cell is installed in horizontal pipe, which turns 90 deg downward after the cell. About 12" (recommended) after the 90, I installed the flow switch in vertical position.
