Moving yet thought provoking
Genuinely an incredible novel. Political intrigue, love, hidden reveals, random supernatural events in the extras just for fun, this book had it all. Including a protagonist who's viewpoint you weren't quite certain if you could trust, which I personally loved. This is a great book to dedicate an evening to and be faced with heartbreak after heartbreak, then the possibility of a happy ending, only for that cycle to repeat again. Highly recommend and I'll be reading the authors other published works as well! Great job translation team. For those not familiar with ancient Chinese customs, the notes the translation team left are your friend. As is Google!

Did Not Disappoint
Easily the best book I read in 2023. The book isnât heavy on romance but I enjoyed the palace politics so much and the various reveals throughout. The extras in the book I also quite enjoyed.

Not my fave
Homestly aside from the constant plot twists and turns this book takes, the story isnât all that great and took me a long time to get through because it didnât grasp my attention like other authors have but itâs still a unique story.

Shipped in Damaged Bag and Arrived Damaged [UPDATED]
The first copy I received was damaged beyond saving. Completely creased on the front cover, weather warped, and a couple pages had red marks all over them. Very strange. Will update with a true review once I've received the new copy.[UPDATE: 18JUN24] Book arrived in perfect condition! The story is great! Really well worth the inconvenience. I would have appreciated illustrations like some of the Seven Sea translations - It would have helped keep characters consistent in my mind. Alas, the character appendixes are sufficient if a little stilted in presentation. If ever there's a hardcover or illustrated edition of this standalone story, I will definitely buy again.

Political Intrigues & Illusions of Love
I read a lot of this kind of books lately and I must admit that this one is somehow different.Even though the main character is openly cut-sleeve, and attends the brothels, all scenes in the book between the main character Prince Huai and his love interests are very proper. Also, this story is more about life on a court as a prince with plenty of intrigues, rumors that can cost you life, and political plots than a real love story.Through Prince Huai's life, we can see how it is impossible to believe anyone around you if you belong to an imperial family. Everyone plays a different role in front of different people. Even those close to you lie to you.The saddest thing is that you also pretend all the time and in the end, even if you tell the truth, they won't believe it.

Eccentric book that's for sure.
I personally did not enjoy this book much. I swear I started to get scared everytime I heard him declare his love đđ "like please don't confess again to some again I'm traumatized"MC is inlove with two people at the same time. Super lost and such a mess with a victim mindset that apparently doesn't care either. The character was literally all over the place. Don't go there expecting some mushy romance it will knock you feet off. Expecting this and you might actually enjoy it.Warning on packaging: it's not the best either books may come with dents and bending marks too

Too many plot holes
Alert this review contains spoilers that being said, letâs dive into it. I recently just bought the book and I finish reading it in two days so this is my review after reading it. a lot of questions for the author first, letâs start with the protagonist prince Huai through out the whole book I felt like he was kind of confused about whom he really love. Just like someone said he fall in and out of love easily. He first confesses his love to. Chancellor Liu aka Ransi when he told him âNoo you are being delusional it actually Yun Yu that you lovedâ he waste no time going to Yun yun he so called only friend to confess his sudden realization of love when he was rejected again he in the end ran back to Ransi saying Noo actually you are the one I really loved. It like he kept both of them in case one didnât work out he will fall back to the other which worked out pretty well for him but what this back and forth and confusion really necessary? Like sir take the L and move on. Concerning the protagonist sexuality, the beginning we were told that he likes women and the fact that he decided to start messing around with men was because he was afraid of being suspicious to Overthrow the king and in the end, he ended up liking men more.If thatâs the case then I think it was wrong and unrealistic because for example if someone originally being a woman like men and then one day for fun started to mess around with women and in the end decided that she will stick with women. I question is did he like women and men or did he like only men? I donât think the protagonist prince Huai had a character development because I really didnât see an growth. The reason why he had a bad reputation in the first place was because everybody taught that he was ticking time bomb to the throne with can go off and any moment and will destroy everything with him. Because of that, he endures all kind of humiliation and suspicion, and in order to prove his loyalty to the crown, he decided to go on the cover as a spy to prevent a rebellion and clear his name but in the end since things didnât go his way and he was captured and wrongly accused why didnât he speak the truth and clear his name since that was the sole purpose in the beginning? If it was because of lack of evidence he should have ask the king to wait until the prince kang to clear his name since thatâs all it took in the end.( FYI, kang is not a real name, I made that up since I canât remember his actual name.) why did he decided to self exist?(unlive himself) what was he actually trying to achieved or prove by his actions? If it was to escape prosecution like everyone said then he could have still achieved that by asking the king. So it doesnât actually make sense. In the end what was all the fuss for?Ransi his character was well developed so I have no complaints there. As for Yun Yu, I have a lot of questions. Since he turn out to be a prince and nephew to prince Huai, the illegitimate child of Huaiâs father brother, how did he ended up in the Yu family? Was he adopted? Because in the book it only stated that Huai father did look after him and his mother once the king died but lost them during a flood or something. How did the king found him? Because it was the who send Yun Yu to infatuate the so called rebellion and spy on prince Huai. And since he turn out to be a fake Yun Yu what happened to the real yun yun ? Or there was no yun yu in the first place. If there was none then did that means master Yu had only two biological kids? Did master Yu knew that the so called Yun Yu was a prince? If so then why did he decided to risk being exposed and bring him in on the rebellion? This Yun Yu of a person what exactly was his sexuality? Did he like men or women or both because I was kind of confused throughout the book. Why did he kiss Huai? What was on his mind that day that he got drunk and decided to kiss his imperial uncle?Since Ransi and Yun Yu were accomplice why did he decided to throw Ransi under the bus by trying to expose him in front of Huai even though he didnât actually got the hint. What was he trying to achieved by doing that? Why did he constantly warned Huai to stay away from Ransi? Was it because he was in love with his uncle and was jealous or as Huai was trying to prepare a way out for Huai since he considered him a friend? If so then how did he plan on saving prince Huai from himself since he was a spy from the palace? Why did the author make us to believe that something romantic was going on between Yun Yu and the king only for Ransi to reveal towards the end that in reality nothing was going on between them. Was it all to drag the plot to the end? And what was the second promise that the king made to Yun Yu because in one chapter when the king got new of his imperial uncle being a life, he came personally to see for him, there inside the boat he met with Yun Yu and told him that âwe kept our promise by bearing little princesâ.Another thing I could have love to see in the book as prince kang waking up and detailed and reacting of all the characters who thought prince Huai was a traitor to the throne when he revealed the truth. I think it was just flat. When Yun Yu and Lui decided to plan and assassination on Lui himself what were they trying to accomplish? Was it for Yun Yu to grow closer to Huai? If so then I donât think it was necessary because werenât they friend already?Anyway over all I could still recommend it to someone it still good despite the plot holes. It worth trying at least for the author effort. If someone one can answer this questions I will be very happy or a way how to reach the author because I need her to answer the questions.

Very fun, unreliable narrator is hilarious!
I had a lot of fun reading this. The first-person narrator is wildly unreliable and I was laughing out loud as he gradually contradicted himself more and more. These are slightly nerdy comparisons, but he reminds me of Garak in "A Stitch In Time" or Lestat in "The Vampire Lestat" -- utterly charming, incredibly queer, and you (the reader) can't trust him. And maybe he can't even trust himself because he also lies to himself from time to time. There were several twists and turns in the plot -- I thought I'd reached the big reveal twice before the actual one happened. There was one point where I thought things were going to get very depressing but the plot became wacky again fairly quickly. The extras were utterly wild as well. I really recommend this to anyone who like danmei, especially humourous danmei.

Identitetskris

Honestly looking forward to reading this book, but there was marking on top of the pages and the spine was slightly torn as well.

Ich empfehle Heaven official's Blessing, the grandmaster of demonic cultivation, oder The Husky and his white cat shizun (und viele mehr). Es gibt so viel besseres!
