Beelink Mini PC SER5 with AMD Ryzen 5 5500U 16GB DDR4 480GB NVMe SSD

Excellent Mini Computer, I love it.

Don't but this for a super fast computer, but as a reliable workhorse. Beelink once again delivers a great product. I had tried 2 different N150 mini PCs from different makes, and both items fell into continuous update loops (some left for hours) and an inability to factory reset. After much troubleshooting, ChatGPT mentions that the N150 chips are so new and can experience driver issues. So I opted for a Beelink Ryzen 5 Pro 5650U. This was to replace an 8-year old MinisForum with Atom x5-Z8350 with 4G 4-core at 1.44GHz which was running Windows 10 for nothing but backup jobs 24/7 (and won't support Windows 11). Those other N150 devices not only fell into infinite loops with updates, they also came with Windows 11 Home. The Beelink EQR5 was $238 landed compared to $195 and $151 of the 2 N150 devices, but it worked flawlessly. In about 30 minutes I was able to rename the EQR5, apply all updates, join my network and enable RDP, install my backup software, connect to my NAS, and connect my UPS device and install the UPS monitor that shuts down all my equipment in case of a power outage.

The SER7 7840HS is a quantum leap over the SER6 MAX, and performs better than any competitor in the iGPU class of mini PCs. For some reason, the bundled LG browsers in my LG OLED TVs have a massive stuttering problem. The SER7 7840HS made the stutters disappear, and opened the door to playback and app performance as good as a desktop PC. The reviews at notebookcheck and techpowerup have all the synthetic and game benchmarks that document the increased performance. Beelink has hit a home run, and the combination of the AMD 7840HS, 780M iGPU, 2xUSB4, and vapor chamber cooling is the secret sauce. Plus... two M.2 NVME slots supporting up to 4TB each, and 5600 MHz DDR4 RAM. The second M.2 NVME slot (not a SATA slot) is easily accessed under the bottom plate, and is cooled directly by the system fan (which is very quiet). The SER7 7840HS was released in September 2023. Any review dated before September 2023 is not about the SER7 7840HS. I have updated my review to deduct a star. No USB-C charger I have tried works, including latest GAN USB-C chargers, 65 watts to 140 watts (UGREEN, Baseus, etc.). On USB-C power in, the SER7 7840HS powers up about 10 seconds, then shuts down. The OEM charger works fine; the OEM charger, with its proprietary magnetic connector, is available as a replacement part (currently USD 28) by emailing Beelink support. I may repurchase this model again after the Beelink forum for the SER models reports the problem is fixed. P.S. Beelink support is 6 stars. The Beelink support forum is moderated daily by Beelink techs, and email exchanges with support about Win 11 keys, replacement parts, etc., are timely. That said, don't let your 7840HS sit after delivery, test all the ports and second M.2 slot. Not all NVME works at rated speed in the second M.2 slot. See the forum for details.

Excellent computer, FAST.

When it works, it's good. I use this to run golf sim software, it is slightly under powered but I understood I would have to reduce the graphics for the form factor convenience. I contacted support about my first one. They had me do BIOS updates, and verify memory type before recommending a return. The issue was the computer was shutting off under strenuous use. It didn't happen every time, but often enough that it was an issue. The replacement has had the same issue and I recently tried to troubleshoot it myself instead of going through Beelink. The issue seems to be the power supply. I limited the power consumption in the BIOS and it doesn't crash anymore. The performance is reduced but it's stable. I've ordered a different PSU with more wattage and I expect that will allow me to restore the power settings and get the full performance out of the pc. This would have been 5 stars if they didn't try to save themselves a few bucks on a power supply.

my 1st impression and being my 1st experience with a mini PC and specifically with Beelink, has been so far very good Considering the price, the value is tough to beat, Mine came well equipped with AMD processors (main processor plus dedicated graphics processor) expandable up to 64GB Ram, the AMD 7 core razyen 5 processor runs much faster than my work pc which runs a modern intel I7 pro 7 core , noticeable faster. and a 1/2 terabyte solid-state drive.. For just 220$ not to mention a active Windows 11 Pro. Reading some reviews, I took it upon myself to do a complete hardwire wipe:format and reinstall windows from my own download.. All up and running now boots within seconds and does not get hot at all. I’m very happy with the processing speed. I don’t do any gaming, but I use it for professional use.. I would recommend this for Home or professional use..

Bought this item and it has a defect. The door closed on the 19th of April, I call to let them ok and I got I'm sorry. 9 day after closing. Now I'm out of $460. and Amazon will not do anything about the defective item.

Excellent little machine, fast and stable. Does not heat. Good quality SSD and DDR, not "Chinese 'noname'. I have had a few for 3 years, zero problem. Even has 2.5 gb ethernet!

I wasn't sure at first about getting one of these, but so far the experience has been decent. I removed the Wi-Fi card because it's connected via LAN and so far it's been up and running well over a month with no issues at all. I just wish they would put the audio jack at the back rather than the front because this is quite annoying at times. Especially if you're not using it for headphones and you're using it for speakers or auxiliary out you don't need this mess of wire coming out the front of the machine.

This is the second Beelink mini PC I've bought, I also have a GTR7 Pro, and once you try one, you have to shake your head and wonder why they still make big tower computers. Both of mine, this one and the GTR7, do a better job playing big video files, movie files & streaming, than most of the huge, powerful "gaming" computers I've had. Nicely designed, well-engineered and built, and reliable.

The positives: It's a great fast quiet machine as all reviews will tell you. That said, I returned the computer. Why? Support was a big problem. The team was fairly fast in their response, but you can tell right away English isn't their first language which made the communications problematic. My issue was the display drivers were incompatible with Photoshop / Lightroom which I use all the time. When I explained the problem, we kept going around in circles. All tutorials/how-to's sent by the support team were never proofread by anyone. They were written for an engineer to read who was sitting next to the programmer. I develop software for a living, and I couldn't make heads or tails of the documentation.

I like the mini PC. It runs games great. But my front mic isn't working which is a bummer. I bought an external, but it's taking up a USB and looks ugly. I wish it were just functional. Also if I send it back I'm going to have to set it all up again which is annoying.
