Blues is not for the faint-hearted. Since the genre first drew breath, its greatest practitioners have embraced the darkness, spinning tales of hardship and death, hellhounds and devilry. If the sleeve of Witchy Feelin' suggests that Kim Simmonds, too, has a tendency towards the macabre, then Savoy Brown's iconic leader is happy to confirm it.

Kim Simmonds has done it again!!
Kim Simmonds and company have done it again! And according to Billboard magazine the public agrees as "Witchy Feelin' is number one on the Blues Charts this week. Savoy Brown has hit a great period here in the 2010's with four outstanding albums. Voodoo Moon (2011), Goin' to the Delta (2014), The Devil to Pay (2015) and now Witchy Feelin'. Quite a creative burst for Kim Simmonds and Savoy Brown. Not bad for a band that started 50 years ago. The new album is outstanding. It is a moody album and shifts the feeling from track to track. The opener "Why Did You Hoodoo Me" blazes out of the gate with a good riff and some red hot soloing by Mr. Simmonds. "Livin On the Bayou" takes you right to Louisiana with a memorable riff. John Fogerty's got nothing on Savoy Brown here. "I Can't Stop the Blues" and "Guitar Slinger" rock and roll the blues. Solid tunes and guitar work.Garnet Grimm and Pat DeSalvo lay it down in support on for their fourth album with Savoy Brown and are solid as always. "Witchy Feelin", the title track switches moods again and this slow blues is killer. Tasteful, soulful guitar work here. For my money the three songs featuring Kim on slide guitar (Vintage man, Standing in a Doorway & Memphis Blues) make the album. All different in style. "Standing in a Doorway" maybe one of the best things Kim Simmonds has every done. Great, great guitar work here. "Thunder, Lightning & Rain bring out the wah-wah pedals for a long seven minute jam. Get this album and listen. Then repeat. It'll grab you, especially after a few listens.

A Very Commendable Reunion
I am a lifelong fan of the British "rhythm and booze" bands; Foghat, whose members derived from Savoy Brown, made it bigger than many, and I prefer those groups that stuck a little closer to the blues and less to the Rod Stewart lifestyle. Although they didn't have many hits Savoy Brown fit that mold. Lately there have been comebacks by several bands from this era - often with few survivors from the original lineup - and the quality is decidedly mixed. This one stands up to repeat playings after the novelty wears off. I like it quite a lot.

'Darker' Than The Early Years But Still Great
After reading one of the other reviews of this album I was suprised at how great this album is. The reviewer didn't like the vocals, songs or guitar solos. I had to listen again to ensure we were listening to the same album as I had found every track to be great! As stated by another recent review it is rare treat now a days when you find a modern blues album that you play right through and just want to listen to every track again. Yes this is different from the great Savoy Brown albums from 40 years back but I can love them both. Kim may not quite be a Chris Youlden on vocals but his 'worn' voice certainly suit this 'darker' material than Chris's more 'theatrical' style. I hope the reveiwer who didn't like it will have another listen. It may grow on him. These songs are great, just different to early Savoy Brown and the vocals suit these songs. The Guitar palying is sublime. Hey, but if he still doesn't like it he can listen to the early Savoy Browm albums that he does like and there's nothing wrong with that as they are great too!

Blues Masterpiece
I have to write a review on this album because it's just so great! This is one of those rare albums where each song seems to be even better than the one before it. My favorite song overall is "Thunder, Lightning and Rain," which is the last song on the album with lyrics as the album ends with a great instrumental, "Close to Midnight." The song "Guitar Slinger" could serve as a great description for this album. Kim Simmonds's guitar work is spectacular throughout. "Livin' on the Bayou" reminds me of another of my favorites, Alvin Lee. There is not a bad track on this album so I could really say something about every song. This is a standout cd. If you are considering it, take the leap. It's well worth it.

Best Savoy Brown ever
I have been listening to Savoy Brown since the early days. Some stuff I like, some I don't. Kim Simmons does some serious jamming on here. "Why Do You Voodoo Me" is some rather hard rocking stuff and "Thunder, Lightning and Rain is the funkiest piece I have heard in years. This is not an attempt to sound like everyone else so prevalent in today's music.

Some Good Blues Rock, Sounds Good Too
Savoy Brown been around for many years, Kim Simmonds has had a few different lineups, but the Musicianship is always perfection. This Album is some terrific Blues Rock and it is Recorded Loud but very good Sound Quality , the Guitar is awesome with some great wah wah and some of those good Blues riffs. Savoy Brown is still making lots of great new musicAnd it's good stuff .

Savoy Brown , still producing top quality music .
Savoy Brown , the British Blues band that have been around since the mid 60's . The one constant though , is Kim Simmonds , the original and lead guitarist of this top band . Now as a 3 piece , and what a 3 piece .With Pat Desalvo and Garnet Grimm , Kim has found the right mix for the ingredients of a superb band . Kim handles the lead vocals along with his skill of crafting good blues songs . Purple patch for this band at this moment in time and fully deserved for a musician who has mastered the trials and pitfalls of performing with a band for this length of time .
