Great Little Hobby / Repair station for the price!
I got this unit after having a TS100 for a couple of years after the screen went out. I intend to replace the screen on the TS100 because it still works well, but I wanted a new station unit that doesn't use and OLED display. The TS100 got me hooked on the quick heat up and stability of this style tip. I like the thinner pencil this comes with. This thing lived up to the TS100 experience very well, and I will enjoy using it as my new primary station.I love the thin pencil. As someone who has tinkered for 30 years, I grew up with the old wood burner style fixed wattage units. Later got temperature controlled off brand with a ceramic core heater. I've used the thicker wands my whole life. I like the TS100 for the thinner grip, but the shape is a little odd since the screen is in the wand. This unit being a station allowed me to try the thin pencil with full articulation. I love it! I can now use all the silverware skills I have to manipulate the iron! If that didn't translate well or make sense: I hold this Iron, a pen or pencil, and a fork or spoon all the same way. I can use all the fine motor control of my finger tips to twist and move the iron nearly the full range of motion the grip allows. A thicker handle would and does automatically limit the range of motion, forcing you to use the larger and more course muscle groups of the wrist and arm to compensate. My one wish is that it would cool off when I put it in the holster, but I think the thin pencil and price may be why it doesn't seem to, though I could be wrong. It does go into sleep mode when not used for a minute or two and wakes up right away, so either it does have some sensor and just behaves in a way I'm not used to or I'm overlooking something like a fool.I would buy this unit again, if needed. Mine came with three tips, including the D24 tip I use most often.

Really nice soldering station
Awesome station for a great value. Includes everything you need to get started and have a professional, easy to use workspace, besides the solder. The iron heats up very quickly, in under ten seconds, and maintains temperature perfectly. The controls are very easy to use, and I like how you can set temperature presets. When you set the gun down for a while, it goes to sleep automatically to prevent your tips from oxidizing, and the second you pick it up, it automatically reheats and is ready by the time you even get it to the joint you need to solder. The other styles of included tips are really nice to have, and they're very easy to swap out.

Great little solder station.
It heats up in less time then it will take you to read this review which is awesome especially if you are impatient like I am. I have used this to replace some bad solenoids on a pinball machine, to recap the sound board on the machine, and to recap a wurlitzer amplifier, and it handled them all with ease. The iron puts out plenty of heat quickly and prevents you from having to wait for warm up on quick repairs. This station is perfect for the prosumer since it has a fairly compact handle and allows you to negotiate the tip without burning or taking out other components. I have no way to verify the temperature output, however, it definitely gets hot enough to solder the components that I have used it on. For the price ($79.99 before $8.00 coupon at time of review) I really like this iron as it seems to have the same quality as some of the much higher priced brand name ones. My only gripe is that sometimes the display is hard to see without tipping it up to get a good look at the temperature, so it would be nice if it had some legs to hold the display up higher so it is not parallel to your work bench. Overall, my gripe is just an opinion and this station easily earns the five (5) stars.

Adjustable current/heat and easy to use.
Solid soldering iron. It is well made and the package came with 3 different tips (pointed, blade/knife and screwdriver) and a housing kit. The connectors are well-made and easily secure in place. Replacing the tips was also very easy. Just pull one out and slide the next in the slot. Note…The tips do NOT “lock” in place. What I mean is that you don’t hear or feel a click! If you look at the diagram and there is a little gap between the last ring and the edge of the holder. But as long as it is pushed in, it has excellent connection and doesn’t fall out.The digital display is clear and using the dial I was able to adjust the current/temperature, easily. But I cannot validate the temperatures. I don’t have an accurate way to measure them. The handle is light-weight and very comfortable and easy to use.The tip cleaners are not top quality and you’ll be better off with the one you normally use, as I did. Personally with the quality and functionality of this iron, that is nothing to worry about. It also has auto-shutoff for people who forget to unplug and turn the unit off when done!So far it has worked and held up well. If you need one, take a closer look. You will not be disappointed.
