i couldn't remove it by twisting, but if it served your purpose, you could cut the screw flush with a hacksaw, i think

The furniture feet are equipped with 12 screws, the size of the screws is 25mm long * 4mm wide

Q: Since the material is rubberwood, can these be painted or stained?

Absolutely . there is a paint for everything nowadays! I would look for paint that can applied on plastic or resin. Love these legs! And better yet the easy to read directions in English to boot!
