It works well - but it's very thin
STURME Camping Sleeping Mat, Air MattressI usually camp with a foam mat roll - the sort that were originally called "Karrimats". But they are big - and you end up having to carry a roll strapped outside your rucksack. So I was really interested to test out this mini-size airbed. Here's what I found...Pros ✅ For an airbed - this does pack away small. It is even smaller than a foam camping mat. My photo shows a 6-inch yellow ruler for size. The pump mechanism works well and I got it inflated in about 7 minutes. This mat is UNLIKE many "self inflating" air mats that just spring up when unrolled - as this needs you to actively push air inside.Laying on it, I have to say that it was a bit more comfortable than my foam mat.Now that should be a "win" - but read onCons ❌ this is made of two layers of a plastic sheeting that is 1/10th of a mm thick (both sides together = 0.2mm). That must make it at risk of punctures - and that guess is backed up by the maker, who packs 6 puncture repair sticky disks in the pack.Once this has leaked - if you can't repair it, then you are back to laying on the hard ground.OVERALL - I'm torn; it is smaller than the conventional mat yet can fit an adult - but how durable will it turn out to be? Do I dare leave my fail-proof foam mat behind on our next hike and just rely on this?If you are sleeping on well-groomed grassy flat campsites - I say get this; but if you camp in wild places, then I'm not so sure. If this survives OK for 2 years I will be back to update my review...but for now, I'm just a bit hesitant. Was this helpful to you ?
