Good, Versatile Sandbag Package With Some Annoying Design Features
I have a few sandbags now and frequently workout with them, so I feel qualified to objectively review the Meister 80 lb. sandbag. I also have a 30 lb. rucksack that’s an impressive piece of equipment, but that’s not the same thing. As far as sandbags, I have:- a 100 lb. strongman sandbag similar to this one but constructed of 1050D Nylon Cordura,- a 200 lb. neoprene sandbag, and- an 80 lb. workout sandbag with handles and constructed of 1050 Nylon Cordura. It’s Very Well-Made (Quality = 90)__________________________________________________Assembled, the Meister sandbag package is really great. The padding is very nice and something I’m not used to having on my sandbags. That said, you’re going to use the handles on this sandbag because there’s nothing to grab onto but the handles. On other sandbags you can grab the bag without using the handles to work on your grip strength. Don’t expect to do that with this bag.The PVC, which is similar to a padded heavy bag; the zipper; and the construction are all very, very good. Dropping and slamming this thing on a mat, carpet, or even smooth concrete floor isn’t going to even phase this thing. I even hooked the bag to a power cage and suspended it in the air by a single handle for hours to see how the stitching would fare. Not surprisingly, it fared perfectly with no indication of the stitches pulling. As a Complete Unit It Performs…Not So Much Individually (Performance = 80)__________________________________________________One of the biggest selling points for me was the ability to have three kettlebells in a self-contained sandbag package that could be easily used separately or together. However, the reality is something different altogether. To get the weight of the sand right, I used a typical bathroom scale. I’d zero out the scale and then pick up the kettlebell, adding sand until I hit the 15 lb., 25 lb., and 35 lb. marks. Filling these things isn’t the easiest thing in the world, but you only have to do it once, so I don’t really care how easy the bags are to fill. I just used a measuring cup to scoop sand out of the retail packaging and into the individual kettlebells. Herein lies the problem. Filling the kettlebells with the exact weight of sand makes them too large to fit into the main bag, so I was forced to put less sand in the kettlebells to make them all fit and get the main bag zippered shut. I was finally able to get the main bag zippered shut and then weighed the complete package on the scale: The total bag weighed 86 lbs. completely assembled. Not a deal breaker or anything but definitely something you should be aware of. Either the individual kettlebells should be labeled with a weight that would be a combined 80 lbs. Including the weight of the main bag or the weight of the main bag should reflect the total weight. In other words, the total weight should be 85-90 lbs.The other problem I had with the design of the bag was the zipper. The zipper is very difficult to get open and shut. It’s not a problem if you plan on rarely opening the main bag and using the kettlebells, but if you plan on opening this thing even every workout, plan on wrestling with the zipper and the flap over the zipper.Other than those two design aspects, I really, really liked the bag. I liked that it wasn’t abrasive. I liked that it was padded. I like the shorter, larger diameter of the bag relative to other, more slender long sandbags. I also really, really liked the handles. This thing was made for the long haul, so feel comfortable investing the money in it. Overall, if a couple design aspects were changed, this would be a perfect sandbag. It’s a Good Value for What It Is (Value = 90)__________________________________________________I actually think this is a pretty good value. There really aren’t any other sandbags that I’ve seen like this. Given that it’s like a hollow heavy bag full of individual kettlebells, I think it’s a good deal. You have virtually endless possibilities with the inclusion of the individual kettlebells. I’m a fan. So even with the difficulties with the zipper and flap (not a deal breaker unless you plan on opening and shutting this thing multiple times each workout) and the incorrect weight (also not a deal breaker because what’s a few more pounds), I still think this is a good deal and totally worth the $150. It should last a very, very long time, and I’d totally order it again. How I Determined the Number of Stars__________________________________________________Quality/Durability (.40) = 90Performance (.50) = 80Value (.10) = 90Weighted Sum (Total) = 85 pointsTo ensure that my reviews are as unbiased as possible, I use a five step process to review each product.1. I list the criteria I believe to be important for each product,2. Assign a weight to each criterion based on my perceived importance of that criterion,3. Score each criterion from 1-100,4. Calculate the weighted sum to arrive at an overall score for the product,5. Assign a star rating (1-20 = 1 star, 21-40 = 2 stars, 41-60 = 3 stars, 61-80 = 4 stars, and 81-100 = 5 stars).By examining my perceived criteria, assigned weights, and assigned values, it’s easy to see how I calculated my star rating and easy to then determine the extent to which my criteria and weights reflect your own, enabling you to make a more informed buying decision.

Amazing sandbag. Not your regular floppy duffle.
This sandbag comes with 3 empty kettlebell sacks that you can fill up the the appropriate weight. The bag self is sturdy and big, and packed with foam to give it a bit of structure. Why is that important? It makes it easier to do a variety of exercises. Yes, you want sandbags because of their weird shape, but trust me, structure still offers that but also gives you the possibility to do even more. I absolutely love this thing.Pro tip: instead of filling it with sand, which can get messy, fill it with a mix of rubber mulch and pebbles from the hardware store. I use river stones as they’re round and help keep the bag neat and doesn’t rip. No dust with this set up! I also mix in rubber mulch for volume. This thing is awesome. You can remove the kettlebells to get the weight you want. Want it to be 80lbs heavy for some strength training? Do it. Then remove 35lb kettlebell out and now you have a 40-45lb bag that you can use for HIIT and AMRAP. Perfect for the person who loves diversity and stepping up to heavier levels. This thing is so well made. It seriously seems bomb proof. Super durable, no frayed stitching. It’s not “just a bag” and is honestly one of the more affordable options of high quality sand bags. Love Meister!

Great just a little over priced for bags
I love these bag but it’s a little over price. It’s only bags. I did buy sand filling and it is working great!

Best sandbag hands down, holds its shape.
I am SO GLAD I ordered this bag, it is not what I was expecting at all.I have 3 other sandbags that I workout with of different sizes. They all basically function like a large duffle bag that has a number of sand filled pouches inside. They also have a few different handle straps in different locations. When this package arrived, I was immediately confused due to the large size of the box. My other bags came folded up fairly small, but this box was big enough for a fully filled sandbag inside.Turns out, this bag has a super thick foam shell inside that firmly holds the cylindrical shape. This is a HUGE bonus. I find it much easier to workout with compared to the heavy "limp duffle bag" like my other bags. To make it even better, instead of fabric strap handles that dig I to your hand, the handles have large padded tubes/grips inside which feel great. To top it off, where other bags have simple sand pouches inside, this hold 3 individual, different sized "sand kettlebells. These work surprisingly well and add alot of utility to the equipment. This is marketed as an 80lb bag. Inside is a 35lb, 25lb, and 15lb kettlebells. This assumes that the outer bag itself is about 5lbs, which I believe.Literally every component of this bag feels and looks like premium gym-level quality, and I see this lasting a long time. I am beyond pleased and would absolutely recommend this bag.
