I haven’t gotten a new tattoo but just putting on fingers it does seem to have a numbing effect. I suppose it would work better, given that you do all the steps prior to a tattoo.

There is a lot going on when it comes to using these creams. The directions are more extensive than you'd imagine and, if you want the cream to be effective, you have to take the time to follow the directions. You can't just put it on like hand lotion and expect good results.I've tried a number of these creams and this one works as well as the others. "Numbing" is probably an optimistic description of what these creams do. They take the "edge" off so the pain is not so much as usual. The "numbing" lasts from 4 to 6 hours, but it takes awhile to kick in, so make sure you've used it in plenty of advance of the situation you are using it for - like an hour before.

It does an alright job. You can still feel the needle just not as much. Def helps in a placebo kinda way too.

While most of her issue is mental the numbing properties of this cream helps the physical touch be much less of an issue. According to my wife it did make receiving a shot much less traumatic.
