Ideal for reinforcing school lessons and during the holidays
Reading and writing are so important, and the sooner you start the better. This is a great book to use with your child to develop early reading skills through the use of phonics. The answers are provided in the back of the book and there is a progress chart in the front. At the start of the book there is a “How to use this book” page, together with a QR code that can be scanned to access free audio content that includes a correct pronunciation guide. This book covers adjacent consonants and split digraphs, plus much more. The illustrations are colourful but pleasantly muted, rather than brash. Every other page has clear instructions for parents, explaining how the phonic on that page and its facing page work. A great back-up to school work and perfect for the holidays. Some of the exercises may be challenging for the age group, but that’s a Good Thing. It is important to repeat the exercises to embed learning, so it would be better if the pages were shiny so that they could be written on using a whiteboard pen that can be wiped off, but you can use a soft pencil and an eraser instead.

Good book for learning English with Phonics
The book is a decent size paperback, with a page at the front where the child can add his name colour a star for each page completed. Inside, each page is different, but the structure is the same, so adds that level of stability when learning. It explains what each page is about, for example 'igh and oa sounds' stating 'the igh sound can be spelt as y and the oa sound can be spelt as ow....e.g. fly and snow'.Also, at the bottom of the page, in a yellow box, is I think for the parent, to help them guide the child on that page. And of course, Answers on the back page, but you will need to cover that with some paper when you get to the final exercises, as it’s opposite.

Age appropriate
This provides good support at home to aid child's learning.Age appropriate, from around 4-5.The pages are quite busy which might make it trickier to navigate. There are bright pictures that help though.I did this with my 4 year old and she really liked it, but only if i sat with her. I think by herself, she felt abit overwhelmed and wasn't sure of what was what. Understandable, it's a good starting point to then train kids to work independently.Ok for the price. The pages weren't printed on really nice, crisp white paper but everything is recyclable nowadays..

Perfect for home learning
I got 3 of these books for my 5 year old and we’re planning on working through them over summer to keep his mind fresh and hopefully not go as feral lol. You definitely need an adult or old kiddo to work with your child on these based on the age, as there is instructions on each with words they will understand, but may not be able to read or out fully into context. This book is to help kids learn more about phonics, starting their journey to read and write. Although we’re not doing it fully until summer I worked through a bit with my 5 year old and he was able to answer the questions I pulled out, so the age range targeted is definitely right. It will help us as parents to make sure we’re teaching him words correctly when it comes to similar sounding phonics, like the one in my photo.
