I bought this for a grandson. It is well made, attractive and I particularly like the red highlights. The highlights make it easier to see in low light. I checked it out and it works well. Very reasonable price. (I want one too).

Great compass, but I wish the sight and ring for attaching lanyard were on the same side. I suppose that's really just a personal preference, but I find it annoying that I can't just raise the compass directly up to my eye in on fell swoop, I have to flip it and my hand around and I am not coordinated enough for these acrobatics.

Have to shake it to get dial to move. Doesn't work at all. Very cheap and lightweight. Not worth the bother to send back.

#6 Stated: Handle the compass gently to avoid oil leakage.Designed to travel with me in my pocket, this concerned me as to durability. May not be an issue, but we shall see.

Attractive and accurwte, but difficult to read in the dark hours
I keep this compass in the car to use when traveling unfamiliar roads. I assumed by the product photos that the compass had luminous green cardinal points (N S E W that glow in the dark.) It doesn't, which makes trying to navigate at night difficult.The compass is attractive and accurate, a good buy for daytime hikers. To read it at night you’ll need a flashlight in your other hand. Don’t try driving that way at night.
